Recommendations - USA tea companies with expensive shipping to Canada?

I need to clarify that header….

I just had this mindblowing moment of realization that my relatives from South Carolina are coming up for a visit this summer (I’m in Canada) – so OBVIOUSLY there hasn’t been a more opportune time for me to order tea and have it shipped to them so they can bring it to me!

I’m looking for some recommendations on what are your “MUST TRY” or “MUST ALWAYS STOCK” teas from US companies who normally charge a crapload to ship to Canada?

For example, I plan to do an order with Lupicia, though I would love some personal recommendations of specific teas. Cookie is right up there on my list. I think I have a few others on my wishlist also. I like dessert teas that aren’t too sweet or overwhelming. Also some straight blacks, but I am open!

Another company I plan to order from is SteapShoppe, I am definitely getting a tin of their Cinnamon Bread Puerh, though I’m not entirely sure what the sizes are of their tins (the site just states “large or regular”)

Any other companies I’d be missing out on if you didn’t tell me about??

Thanks in advance for helping a little Canadian build her tea stash with previously off limits $$ teas :)

Adagio is crazy expensive shipping. They aren’t my favorite company, but some of the fandom blends are really fun. I think you should at least take a look and see if anything interests you.
Golden Moon – CRAZY shipping. Coconut pouchong is really popular here as is Sugar Caramel Oolong.
Yogic Chai – I love chai and would LOVE to check these guys out…
Harney & Sons – not the worst shipping but is still pretty expensive, they quite often have free shipping in the US, might be worth it to save all shipping. Too many favorites to mention.

There are tons of other companies, but those are the ones that I wish were more accessible for me.
I just got my first Lucipia order, don’t have recommendations yet, but I’m sure others do. (Cookie is just a given.)

I would suggest Steven Smith Teamaker. I have liked all of the teas I have tried. There are a few that are/were available at chapters but other than that I don’t think are available in Canada.

Mandala will ship to Canada. Just email Garret or Jamie on their site and I am sure they would be glad to help you. Fantastic people!

Oh yeah for sure :)

I’m looking for companies that normally charge an arm and a leg to ship to Canada because I have an “in” now, to get some stuff I usually wouldn’t be able to justify :)

Lupicia… Momoko is awesome if you are looking for a creamy vanilla peach tea. Their flavored matchas were really disappointing, weak and premixed with sugar, but I think that was the only tea I was let down by. A couple others were just okay. Chocolate strawberry Puehr is really nice. The green chestnut tea is yummy, but subtle. I also really liked their breakfast EG.

Lupicia is my baby and I’ve loved them for years now, and dude. Go for their melon teas. I’ve loved every one I’ve had! Okay I’ve only had like 3 or 4 but they were all pretty great!
Their Orzo teas are pretty good. Well I’ve only had the Caramel & Honey and I liked it! It has a nice roasted flavour and definitely a unique tea.
I’ve been with Lupicia for a long time, but only recently did I explore more and purchased teas out of my usual 4. I love their green teas, but I’m not quite familiar with their dessert teas. Cookie is a given, but that’s the only one that I’ve had.
Spend $30 and you get a free subscription to their magazine for 6 months! Since my address changes a lot, I just have it sent to my mother and have her save all the samples till I see her next :)
(free US shipping $60+)

I pretty much only order fandom blends from Adagio now. They’re a great company, but compared to other stores, I like the other ones better. But the fandom blends just have all these random flavours that you wouldn’t even imagine pairing them together, and a lot of the time, they work! And I love collecting the art haha :)
Loki, Jack Frost, and Bilbo are definitely my favourites. Out of all those, Bilbo is the most dessert-y. Jack Frost reminded me a bit of DAVIDs Santa’s Secret! A mix of creamy, pepperminty goodness :) Loki is bright, beautiful, and lovely. These are the three that I would most definitely would not hesitate in purchasing 3oz. of.
(Free US shipping $49+)

Don’y know about Harney and their shipping prices, but I love their Paris blend! I’ve tried plenty of their other teas, but none of them were as great as Paris. Caramel-y/vanilla goodness!
(Free US shipping $50+)

I just checked and Della Terra ships to Canada for $8.95. Don’t know if that’s too much, but Eight Candles is highly highly recommended. It’s sparkly and tastes like cupcakes okay. This was the exact tea that made me fall in love with dessert teas!

I haven’t really had the time to venture out of my Adagio/Lupicia/DAVIDs, and of course you definitely have easier access to DAVIDs than I do. I’ve just had a small handful of teas from other companies, and just a smaller handful of dessert teas.
And you can always see if there are any local tea shoppes near your relatives? Maybe there’s a hidden gem lurking around!

Hope my bit of 2am ramblings helps a little :)

You don’t get the subscription if you’re in Canada. it sucks

Lupicia also ships to canada now, though clearly not cheaper than 60 = free!

No no, I meant she can have the subscription sent to her relatives in SC and they’ll jist hold the teas hostage till they see her next. Should have clarified that a bit more :)

Ive enjoyed teas from New Mexico Tea Company. Their selection isnt huge but the quality is top notch. Using first class mail your us relatives should revieve your tea in less than a week and the cost is cheap!
You might check into how much tea they can bring across the border though. Some items cant be brought in in bulk.
It would be a shame to lose anything!

Thanks! I will look into that….good point about the border.

Hopefully it won’t be too bad, because I think they’re driving

Driving?! In that case they can totally stuff the seats of the car with tea!

That’s what I was thinking!!
