What is your favourite iced tea?

I have to admit, I’ve never been an iced tea fan. I drink way too much tea in general so when it comes to an iced drink I’ve chosen something else that is caffeine free. The other day, I thought I would try my Rishi- Hibiscus Rooibos as an iced since I wasn’t drinking it up and it would be a caffeine free drink. It wasn’t that bad and the hibiscus (which I do not like) doesn’t seem too much in your face with an iced tea. I’ve been really reluctant to use some of my quality greens or oolongs as an iced but was just wondering what everyone else enjoys as an iced tea?

Lets see, I cold steeped a black currant tea, white berry tea, almond and walnut green tea from a local tea shop yesterday. In addition, I also cold steeped cherry rose from Zen Tea(I think I prefer it hot), and lemon chiffon from Della Terra Teas. With the exception of the cherry rose, all were phenomenal. In general any fruity tea is better cold. And green and oolongs are some of my faves iced. I’d say try doing the regular amount of loose leaf, and half the amount of water and steep hot like normal, and then pour over some ice. This is much faster than cold steeping, and if you don’t like it, you’ve only used one serving, and cold always heat it back up.

I have heard of that idea and like that but haven’t gotten around to trying it yet. I do have a few teas I could try that one to see how they are like.

It’s super easy and I don’t like drinking super hot tea so it means less time spent waiting for it to cool to a drinkable temp.

I’ve been keeping pitcher of a fruity tea and a pitcher of some kind of black… or mate in the refrigerator at all times. I cold brew them which really changes the flavors. Because cold brewing takes so long, I use a method someone else (?) suggested. I label them using “chalkboard” stickers and write on them with chalk. The stickers stay on really well since I’m not really scrubbing the outside of the pitcher or soaking them.

I cold brew almost anything fruity, or even fruity oolongs. I tend to prefer them over black teas. However, the Harney and Sons black iced tea is really nice. So smooth, not bitter at all.

I don’t like to cold-brew higher quality teas either. I tried it with Yezi’s Jin Jun Mei and it was a lost cause. So I mostly cold-brew Japanese green teas (last year kukicha, this year a lower quality sencha because it’s what I have now), rooibos, and hibiscus. I’ve found Moroccan mint to be very refreshing because of the mint, and I also have some of Den’s flavored senchas, which I solely cold-brew. In all cases, they taste less punchier but still very refreshing.

I have a two liter pitcher. But when I was something it smaller quality I just dump a tea spoon or two in a tall glass tumbler.

I have some Moroccan mint. I’ll have to try that one. Thanks for the ideas!

Hope you enjoy :3

I mainly started off with fruity teas with any type of tea base, but then I really got into this cold brewing kick where anything in my cupboard was up for experimenting. I discovered that I actually also really enjoy roastier teas (barley, darker oolongs, hojichas) as iced teas as well.

Interesting. I would not have thought roasty teas would be good as iced teas.

I don’t make it in pitchers (mainly because I can never find them), but I like cold brewing the rooibos blends from Della Terra Teas. It’s either Lime or Lemon Chiffon usually. Last is was all about the Mojito cold brew, or Mint Julep from David’s Teas.

I tend to prefer black teas for iced teas but the flavors can vary. Lemon is good, passionfruit, black currant, peach or raspberry tend to be my faves, but I’ll give most fruit flavors a try. I also like an iced vanilla tea or even caramel.

Yesterday I made some lemon chiffon iced from della terra and brought it to my parents, it was a big hit.

In summer I usually have at least two or three pitchers of iced tea in my refrigerator.

I prefer fruity teas iced over hot. I have a blueberry coconut white that I am loving iced right now and I really like Harney’s Apricot black and Vanilla Comoro decaf iced. Otherwise, for everyday gulping when it’s hot I have a jar of Franken-Tea that I throw unflavored blacks into when I want to be done with them or I haven’t been super impressed with them and I steep them overnight as a cold brew.
