9-1-1 get well tea

I know there are several threads hanging out here with health benefit discussions, but may I use illness and weariness as an excuse not to have to dig too hard for the content? :P

So…if you were on Day 5 of a please-shoot-me intestinal virus, and were fighting fever and … other intestinal unpleasantries …. what would be the go-to-tea you’d grab to rehydrate and try to cool off from the inside out?

Feedback sincerely appreciated!

I’d go w/ a 1 2 3 punch. 3 teas each for different symptoms. Drink white tea cold because it helps lower internal body temp (ahem… organic honey vanilla.. lol), matcha for nutritional value (and it’s just heat water or not lol, pour , dump, wisk, and drink! Perfect for when you’re out of it. If you want more flavor and health benefits try matcha orange juice YUMMM), and chai (maybe a kashmiri chai since it’s lighter) to help settle the stomach.

White tea, yes, but the drinking it cold part might not be the best approach.
Drinking cold water (or tea) actually cools you off less, because your body has to use energy bringing it up to the right temperature. It’s best to drink liquids at room temp.

I would use a plain green tea for the health benefits, and lots of herbals for tasty hydration. I hope you feel better soon!

I guess since she mentioned health benefits, I stuck w/ true tea. Although green rooibos is supposed to have the most antioxidants of any tisane or tea. Iced ginger water is one of the best thirst quenchers I’ve found. Stay away from mint tisanes though- they are diuretics inspite of being caffeine free.

I’m not a health benefits whiz, but when I’m sick with a cold or the flu, I usually make a pot of mate. And, while I usually don’t go for Teavana, their Matevana always does the trick. It picks you up, makes you feel much less sick, and I think that’s a good part of the recovery process – not feeling like crap.

Good thoughts … thanks. Was reminded after a little online prowling that sassafrass is thought to have toxin-cleansing mojo, so I made me an easy-prep iced mug from concentrate. Dump, add water, ice down. Hit the spot.
