Is DavidsTea's Gyokuro Yamashiro worth it for traditional brewing?

Has anyone tried brewing DavidsTea’s Gyokuro Yamashiro the traditional way (around 3oz of water with right temperature and teaware?)

Despite the fact that DavidsTea’s “Gyokuro” and “Gyokuro Yamashiro” have the same price point, their Yamashiro variety is probably better considering the Steepster score (78 vs 87).
Of course, taste is subjective with my hesitation coming from the fact that Teavana’s Gyokuro Imperial has a Steepster score of 85, and I KNOW the quality of that gyokuro to be terrible (it tastes decent when brewed at 140F with 1tsp/8oz, but it’s awful when brewed the traditional way).

I plan to purchase from Den’s Teas or O-Cha soon, but wanted to see if the Gyokuro Yamashiro from DavidsTeas could at least make a traditional brew that wasn’t awful.

I think you have to take the ratings with a grain of salt, they are totally subjective and one person’s rating scale isn’t like another person’s.

If you are near a DavidsTea location, I’d suggest buying like a 10gram sample to try first, especially since its a more pricey tea.

And if you haven’t tried, http://yunomi.us/ has some really nice gyokuro and different grades to choose from. They also have their teas in sample sizes.

Marzipan: I definitely do! Hence the hesitation

Awkward Soul: What a great find! I’m seeing that you can have up to 2 sample request each month! Thanks so much!

I would also recommend trying Den’s tea for gyokuro. And definitely the sampler if you are a first time buyer. I don’t think it comes with it every time but when I got my sampler it contained a gyokuro!
