Mystery Tea! Anyone recognize it?
My good friend Joe’s boss received two canisters of this tea as a gift from a former employee. He doesn’t drink tea, so he gave it to Joe, and Joe gave me one of the canisters. The only information that I have (albeit 4th hand!) is that it was purchased in Hong Kong and is a Taiwanese tea. Judging by the appearance, I’m pretty confident it’s an oolong. I just thought I’d throw it out there and see if any of you lovely people recognized it. There’s a few pictures of the canister and the tea itself in the folder below. Thanks for any input!!

Hi there! I’m pretty sure this is Taiwanese Alishan oolong tea, I recognize the characters just because I like this particular type of tea so much haha. :D
The first picture: 阿里山 高山茶 = Alishan Gaoshancha = Mt. Ali High Mountain Tea. “High Mountain” in this case refers to teas grown at more than 900-1000m or so, which is a sign of quality as higher elevations tend to generate better tea. :D
There’s also the photo of the Alishan area, there is a scenic area there that is known for the train and forests. Also, the leaves’ jade green color, balled-shape with the golden stems is also very typical of Alishan and other high-quality Taiwanese oolong as well.
wow…nice canister! i was going to guess Tieguanyin/Ti Kwan Yin or Jade Oolong. rolled very tightly into rather large ‘popcorn-shaped’ pearls… this would probably unfurl into a small city!
