Journal and Diary Keeping

I’ve kept journals since I was a teenager, so I have a box of around 10 completed ones stashed under my bed. It’s interesting to go back through them sometimes. My recent journals are all Moleskine. I tend to go for the limited edition patterned ones, and I have a fair few blank ones waiting to be used. My current one has been in use for a year or so now. I don’t write every day, just when the mood strikes me, but it can be anything from thoughts and notes about my day and things that are going on in my family/the world, song lyrics, lists, quotes…I keep things like theatre tickets, unusual bits and bobs, and I stick things in that I want to keep.

I keep a separate book journal, also a Moleskine. This year I’ll finish my first along with my third Goodreads Challenge. I like having a record on paper to look back on, and to keep track of wish lists, books to be read, etc.

My tea notes are all on Steepster, although lately I’ve had cause to wish I also had a paper version! Things seem a little better now, although I can tell it’s not completely right still.

I love to write, though. I think it’s become a kind of therapy for me, in some ways.

I think I only have 2 empty journals right now which is practically a miracle. One is a Woodstock Moleskine that I’ve been “saving” for some reason. My current one is a TARDIS journal which I love. For my book journals, I tend to use the smaller ones that I get as gifts sometimes because I would never use a tiny journal for my personal stuff but it works well enough for books. I love paper!

I can’t believe I’ve never kept a book journal, although I was thinking about it recently, because sometimes I trouble keeping track of the various characters in whatever book I’m reading at the time.
All of my past journals are stored in boxes. My oldest daughter (age 31) is looking forward to getting to read them someday, LOL. Hopefully it will be awhile ;)
