Simple Loose Leaf | We would like your feedback on an idea we have for tea clubs
Hey Steepsterites,
I hope you are having a great weekend. Simple Loose Leaf been getting some feedback from our customers that they love our club, BUT we are sending out so much tea that we are overwhelming their tea shelves. So we have put our collective heads together and think we have figured out an alternative.
The Tea Co-op Club
-A tea club and store that combine the joys of a tea subscription with the benefits of store.
-Each month we would bring on new teas to our store.
-Each month we would send all of our members a sample of all of the new teas we bring to the store.
-As a member of the club you would have a member id that would allow you to get substantial discounts on all teas in the store. (50% discount is the number we are looking at)
-Club membership is $15/month
-We would introduce 4-6 new teas each month
-You would get ~1/4 oz. of each of the 4-6 teas
I would love to get your thoughts. The primary idea behind the club is to make it so each month you will get to try new teas, and if you like what you try you can order the teas at a deep discount. BUT if you don’t like the teas so much you don’t have to worry about having a bunch of tea in your cabinet that you don’t like.

This sounds like something I would definitely be interested in, but I’m curious how many flavored to unflavored teas you plan on adding for each box.
We would focus on featuring unflavored teas. Likely 3/10 teas will be flavored.

I definitely think that sounds like a perfect way of achieving the goal of trying a lot, enjoying the teas you liked so much that you wanted to buy more, and not being overloaded with teas you don’t like enough to purchase.
I like this idea. I’m definitely signing up for more info!
Would this be replacing your current tea subscription program?

We are not 100% sure on that. It might. One of the other factors that is forcing us to consider changing formats is that I am applying to a PhD Space and Planetary Science program. Our current model is VERY complicated on the back and if I am accepted to start work on a PhD we will need a simpler model. Without it, we would not be able to deliver the quality that we expect of ourselves, not to mention the quality that every tea drinker has the right to expect from us.
I really like this plan. My question would be like Flyawaybirdie’s … will this be replacing your Selection Club?

Without it, we would not be able to deliver the quality that we expect of ourselves, not to mention the quality that every tea drinker has the right to expect from us.
I am very interested and the fact that its mostly unflavored teas is huge for me as I rarely drink flavored tea. $15 a month is also nice as I probably spend over $200 a month on tea as it is.
Yeah most of the flavored tea we will have will be white. We are working on expanding our selection of whites but they have proven to be the hardest to expand in a meaningful way.
