Oh great… If I’m not careful my monthly tea subscription bill is going to end up like a car payment. This will be hard to resist. Looks interesting!

It’s definitely tempting, especially since I love their teas. My only issue is that 150-200 grams a month is a lot of tea!

awilsondc said

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking! I drink around 300g of tea per month I think. With everything else I’m drinking it would be tough to keep up!

mrmopar said

+1 on the monthly bill. If I get a raise this year I will probably spend some on this.

I’d be interested if the selection were narrowed down. Can’t say I would really want 100g of white or green teas. Although I suppose that’s a good thing for my bank account!

I narrowed it…

Tempting but I am fairly narrow in what I drink.

I think I’m with you guys… if it were tailored to tea types you want it would be more appealing. For me, pu erh maybe some oolongs.

+1.

+2 on puerh.

Ooh…tempting. But really, I don’t need another subscription at this point.

How about 3 plans?

Dark Tea Club – Ripe Pu-erh, Hei Cha, Roasted Oolongs and Black teas

Raw Pu-erh Snobs – Just raw pu-erh, mostly young, some older.

Jade Club – Green and White teas with a smattering of Jade Oolongs

Now we’re talking. I guess my only question would be if I couldn’t get at least 150 g of tea for $35 if I ordered it directly.

Cheri select said

You are making this more tempting.

cookies said

Much better, but I think it might be better to do pu-erh all together instead of adding ripe with the dark tea. And, I’m not sure if this is possible due to shipping, but maybe smaller offerings than 150g. If you get two teas totaling 150g and you don’t love either… well, that’s a lot to have on hand.

Thanks for the feedback. I have alot of customers who drink raw but hate ripe pu-erh and vice versa.

Is 150 grams alot??? ;-) I am really confident that people would absolutely love all the teas… but ya you never know.

jschergen said

I think more important than the actual quantity is to have plenty of variety/samples!

@Marzipan The value of the teas and shipping you would receive would retail for $35 or more. In all cases it would be cheaper than retail.

The idea is, get a good deal and let us introduce some great teas to you. Some people will want to have full control over their selection, so they won’t want to join the club.

Cheri select said

I agree with jschergen that variety is good. I’d rather get a smaller sample of 4-6 teas than 2-4 teas every month. While I like all of the variety of teas offered, I’ve got pu-erh subscriptions right now. I’d love to have an oolong subscription, and the Jade Club sounds good to me as well.

Uniquity said

On the one hand, I think ripe should be lumped with blacks and roasted oolongs as they share characteristics and tend to appeal to the same people, but on the other hand for newbies to try both ripe and raw at once is a good idea.

I’m not in the market for a subscription but IF I were, I’d like a box of unflavoured teas focusing on blacks and ripe puerh, with the odd addition of something along those types.

mrmopar said

Yep that would fill the bill. How about an “option” on the puerh. Maybe ripe one month and raw another? Variety on a monthly basis of these sheng and shou would be nice. Maybe shou in the Winter/Fall months and Sheng in the Spring/Summer to coincide with the tea harvests.

@mrmopar Yup… planning for the Pu-erh Only club to be 35-%40 ripe and 60-65% raw. Mostly ripe in the winter.

mrmopar said

You are a good man my friend! I got a cart full now so you will have to work on one for me soon. When you get to my side one day we will share a cup or more.
Btw follow me as I do a bunch of your stuff on here.

@mrmopar well hopefully that will happen. I am spending more time in the USA now… I think it’s likely!

awilsondc said

Love the idea of more ripe in the winter, more raw in the summer for the pu-erh club.

OK.

All great feedback. Thank you! So… 100 grams a month, 4 teas of 25 grams each. For $30 would be better?

And these grouping?

Dark Tea Club – Black tea, Roasted Oolongs, some Ripe Pu-erh and Hei Cha

Pu-Heads – Raw and Ripe Pu-erh, old and new!

Jade Club – Green, White and Jade Oolongs (Tie Guan Yin, Light Dan Cong, Ben Shan)

I like this better!

I think that’s much better! Definitely interested in the Dark Club with this plan.

Pu heads. Haha.
Pu heads Pu heads Roly poly Pu heads.

I belong to Pu-heads club. Its awesome to have 25g samples. i do spend on YS $70 avg . so it will control my appetite.

My question now is will it be limited to YS puerh or it will include all the factories you carry on .com ?

That Dark Tea Club sounds perfect – I deffo think I could get on board with it :-)

mrmopar said

But I’m not a pu head…….

Sil select said

this would be great!

@boychik It will include non YS pu-erhs.

boychik said

I do like YS cakes but want to try others as well

Ok, I really can’t buy any more tea right now, but I have to say I’m really impressed by this level of responsiveness to customer feedback. :)

It’s all about the customers!!!

Cheri select said

I agree! Thanks for listening even though you hadn’t asked, and working to tweak things to meet our wants and wishes. It’s a sign of a good company.

Soooooo since we are almost talking about it…… and customer feedback is good….right?
I’m one of the customers that would prefer to choose my own teas rather than sign up for a subscription. You have TONS of teas that I would like to try but have been reluctant because of the size options offered on your website. Same as the comments above. I would prefer to buy 4 teas at 25g each than one tea of 100g. I’m really reluctant to buy teas in 100g quantities. I like variety and I like to try lots of different ones (I also like to have variety in my cupboard so that I have the right tea for the right mood). I have bought several at 50g from you, but not all teas are available in 50g – and even then, would prefer smaller packaging.
I can only speak for myself – but I would buy more tea from you if I could buy smaller quantities. :))

boychik said

I agree with Dexter.

Hi Dexter,

We offer 25 gram samples for most of the pu-erhs and the more expensive loose teas. I have avoided doing 25 grams for cheaper teas because we don’t have enough labor to deal with doing that. Believe it or not finding good employees here in China is quite difficult. I’ll look to making 50 grams an option for the teas whose lowest option is currently 100 grams.

Dexter said

Thank you – I hadn’t seen any offered at 25g – I must like cheaper tea :)) I’ve really only looked hard at the black teas (maybe I just assumed the rest were the same) – now that I know pu’erh is available in 25g samples will have to spend some time perusing the site and plotting my next order. Thank you so much for clarifying.

Not all the Pu-erhs have 25 gram options… it’s just not possible for us to maintain and organize. Most over $25 a cake do have the option though…

mrmopar said

Yeah I know about those 25 grammers. I plan purchases around them so I am grateful for the offering of that size.

awilsondc said

I LOVE the 25g samples of the pricier cakes. I get to try a good variety and narrow down the ones I want to invest in long term. Brilliant idea. 25g is perfect too, enough for 3-4 sessions.
