New tea company seeking advice

So we just started a tea company and are seeking advice. We have been lurking around Steepster for a while now and it appears to be a good place to seek advice from the actual people who purchase good tea. As of right now we are building our inventory and still playing around with blends, especially flavoured teas. Whilst at this moment we do not have a large selection of tea, we are very picky, we will in the future have a much wider variety as it seems as though this is what works for other tea companies, and providing choice makes it easier to exploit the free shipping when you spend a certain amount.

We made a mistake with our initial packaging, we bought bags that had tin-ties. We are changing over to Mylar zip-lock bags.Through our research we found this is what people prefer.

As we are located in Canada, shipping is always an issue. Canada post sucks, especially for small businesses that operate online. Because of that we are working on lowering our shipping costs, and/or taking the hit ourselves in order to remain competitive.

We will be implementing a rewards program. Tea drinkers seem to respond well to this, and I know as a consumer of vast quantities of tea it is appealing.

All in all, any advice is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions we will be very happy to answer those too! You can find our site at:

It looks pretty good to me so far, although I don’t like smoky teas so there are only two I would buy.

Thanks for checking it out! I’m not a huge fan of smoky teas either, my partner is though. There’s not too much of the LS in our blends. The People’s tea has just a hint of LS and I really love it. On that note, I think I’ll change the ingredients so it lists the teas from what we use the most of to the least.

Once you get more tea online I think people will be able to better help you with advice. You have some interesting looking blends. But I am with Mazipanit and don’t like smoky. But there are some I might just have to dabble with

Thanks for the input. We’re working on adding more teas currently, really into the china blacks and working on flavoured teas too. Any tea you’d like to see us sell? Flavoured or not?

What you have so far looks great. Small quantities available, ingredients & tasting notes, good packaging. Shipping is a bit high for me, but Canada Post really does suck. I hope you can find a way to get the cost down.

I am a fan of smokey blends, so I’m really interested in trying out your teas, once I’ve finished some of what I already have. :)
