what food u guys like to have to go with tea?

What do you like to eat when drinking tea?
Mostly I don’t eat food when drinking tea, but sometimes I like to have some desserts, haha, I guess I have sweet tooth.

Personally I like pineapple tarts to go with pu’er, muffins with green tea.

what do you guys normally have?

Now that I think about it, I don’t think I really eat much with tea. But I’d like to! Interested to see how people respond. :)

Growing up in the south, we drink iced tea with just about everything. But, since I started on loose leaf I don’t drink it with food at all. I will still order iced at a restaurant though.

I like tea as an accompaniment to many foods.

If I want to focus on the tea, I like eating good quality chocolate, cakes or cookies. I often find that the way sweets coat my mouth compliment the flavours of the tea and they really enhance each other. I’ve had a few teas that I’ve had with Lindor chocolates and the flavour combination was explosive and amazing – lots of burnt sugar notes that weren’t present in the tea or chocolate alone.

Some of the maltier straight blacks seem to go well with dried apples, IMO. And sharp cheese. I recently got to participate in a tea & chocolate pairing class. It really surprised me because I am not a white chocolate person at all (blech), but there was a white chocolate offered (Green & Black’s Organic) and it was paired with a very light oolong (unfortunately I cannot remember the name) and it brought out flavors in the tea that were amazing and really smoothed it out. I’m not sure the rest of the pairings were that exceptional to my palate but I have been to other events where tea and food were paired very well and brought certain notes in both to the fore that weren’t there alone.

I drink a cup of straight black tea with breakfast almost every morning and about the only breakfast food I don’t like with it is eggs. Otherwise, everything else seems to pair nicely…pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, bagels, muffins, etc. But other types of tea (and flavored teas especially) I prefer to drink plain.

IMO tea tastes better with food. It really depends on the tea and what I’m doing. In winter I pair more dinners with tea.

I haven’t gotten into “pairing” teas with food (yet)…but I’ve found that a nice black tea makes my pb & j go down much more enjoyably. _

I have a cup of bagged Irish Breakfast with every meal I eat. Except on the occasions I eat out, then it’s unsweetened iced tea or coffee. Otherwise I generally only take my tea with food when I’m eating something sweet and rich. Hearty Assams and breakfast blends work particularly well with chocolates and desserts in my opinion. I bet Lapsang Souchong would go well with a nice dark chocolate. I’ll have to give that a try one day.

I usually have my tea between meals so I can focus on it. It also helps me have a delicious taste which helps me not snack mindlessly. Which I still do, but that’s okay. I occasionally have sweets with tea but I’m often perfectly happy having tea on its own. I actually prefer it that way, I think. I really don’t like tea with meals, that’s for sure. Even directly before or after doesn’t work well for me. I don’t know why.
