Non-David's Tea Advent Calendars? Share your tea!

Anyone else doing another tea advent calendar? Since I could not get my hands on David’s tea, I bought Teanzo’s advent calendar. I know other companies like TeaForte is doing one as well.

Teanzo’s first day was Winter Earl Grey. It reminded me a lot of Red Leaf Tea’s Puer Earl Grey

I have the Dammann Frères calendar! The first day was L’Oriental – a fruit-flavored sencha. I tasted more sencha than fruit. :P

Mmmmm, sounds awesome! I tend to shy away from flavored Japanese teas. Usually the flavors added to the tea drown out the base. Depends on the fruit…

The flavors listed on the ingredients are passion fruit, peach, strawberry, and pineapple.

I think that this is a Chinese Sencha base, not a Japanese Sencha base. By the appearance of the leaf in the photo, it looks more like a Chinese Sencha and also, Chinese Sencha tends to be the “popular” green tea to flavor. Just like Ceylon black tea is the “popular” black tea to flavor.

I ordered the 52 Teas one but it’s not here yet. :(

Me too, but I wasn’t expecting mine super quickly once I’m in Canada. At least it’s only 12 days, so as long as I get it by the 12th, I’ll be happy.

Oh! See, I can’t even remember what I order.

Did you get yours? I got mine on the 2nd :)

I did! I’m not going to start it until the 25th though.

This year there are no dates on the teas so it gives a little more freedom, though I want it to be perfect and am thinking of starting on 14th so that I get one on Christmas day.

This year I’m doing the Teanzo Tea calendar too. I do a countdown every year for a few years now, ever since we started the SororiTea Sisters blog, I think! Anyway … the first couple of years, I did the 52Teas 12 Days of Christmas but since I’m a subscriber, I figured I didn’t need samplers of the teas that I’ve already tried throughout the year. Then I did the Della Terra Teas one for a couple of years and this year I decided I wanted to try a different one so I went with Teanzo.

I’ll be counting down the days on the SororiTea Sisters Blog: http://SororiTeaSisters.com

Huh, I’ve never even heard of that company. Are their teas good?

I’ve enjoyed what I’ve tried thus far.

I made several advent tea calendars this year for friends and family. They turned out so well! I couldn’t afford to buy them all the pre made type. It also helped me thin my tea cupboard! I will be doing it again next year for them. Mine looked just like these.

I purchased the David’s tea paper filters with the drawstring and every commented on how well those worked. I also listed where the tea came from so they could order more if they liked that particular tea.

That is such a cute idea! I’m sure everyone loved it.

do you have photos? this is a brilliant idea!! How did you number them for each day?

Extremely cute, and I can see it being simple (but perhaps tedious) to make! And you could use cute holiday scrapbooking paper! :D

Dammann Frères, Day 2 is Flocons d’Épices! It’s an orange gingerbread black tea. Quite yummy!

Love this one. I discovered it in last year’s advent calendar!

Teanzo’s Day 2 is a Jasmine Green. I think this advent calendar will definitely cover the basics. I am holding myself back from peeking at the days ahead, but I hope to see some of their original blends!

It’s a good Jasmine green. It doesn’t taste as though it’s been “flavored” but instead scented, which always earns bonus points from me when it comes to Jasmine tea.

Dammann Frères, Day 3 is Tourbillon! This is a black tea with a ton of different flavors including orange blossom, fruit, and chestnut. Personally, I thought the orange blossom took over a bit and I wanted more of the other flavors.

Day three of Teanzo: Safari. It’s a fruity Rooibos that is has lemon and raspberry flavors. I wish I had tried it iced, I think it would have been more lemonade-y.

As I mentioned on your tasting note of this tea – I didn’t get a raspberry note. I got citrus. I liked the combination of the citrus and the nutty flavors of the rooibos, though.

I did get some honey-roasted peanut in there. I was just to excited about the lemonade aspect to remember. Now that I think about it, that is a really weird combination…

I ordered a tea forte calendar for my Mom this year and got one for myself as well. I try to call her each night so she can discuss the tea and which ones she liked. So far her favorite is the Caramel Nougat, but I think that’s because it’s been the only black tea so far.

I almost go that calendar as well. I can’t remember why not, but it may have had something to do with their selections of flavors. Regardless, I want to know how it’s going!
