I LOVE this tea. I get more lemon from the smell, with the taste being more creamy and sweet without being TOO sweet. This is absolutely delicious and smells heavenly.

All I really get from this tea is overpowering flavours, and nothing particularly distinct in that aside from a lot of cinnamon and cloves, and artificial flavouring aftertaste. Yuck. So glad this was just a sample in my 24 Days of Tea advent calendar and that I didn’t actually buy a tin of this on its own.

Flavors: Anise, Apple, Artificial, Cinnamon, Cloves, Fruity, Hibiscus, Licorice, Plum, Tart

drank Pink Flamingo by DAVIDsTEA

24 Days of Tea’s Day 4 brought Pink Flamingo, which is a citrusy herbal blend. I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I like the orange, but it’s a little bitter, although I brewed it too long. I might have to sample it again some time to make up my mind.

This is creamy and mellow, with a slightly sweet taste. I was amazed at how much volume the leaves expanded to once this was steeped!

24 Days of Tea, Day 2.

Full disclosure: I’m not a fan of David’s Tea’s chais. I find them watery and flaccid, so I went into this without high hopes… and I was right. Because I find DT’s chais weak, I steeped this longer than the directions instructed, but upon first sip, all I got was licorice. Expecting a combination of chai and vanilla, I was unprepared for this, and I was taken aback, because even more than I dislike DT’s chais, I dislike licorice flavouring, especially in a drink. Here, it’s overpowering. I am glad I only had a small sample of this in my advent calendar, because it’s certainly not something I’d ever, or will ever, purchase.

Flavors: Anise, Cinnamon, Cloves, Ginger, Licorice, Nutmeg, Spices, Vanilla

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 8 min or more 1 tsp 12 OZ / 355 ML

Yum!

This was another of the samples I got when I ordered my 24 Days of Tea advent calendar (is it December 1st yet??) and I tried it tonight before bed. Dry, this smells really sweet, so I was worried that it would be nauseating, but the hibiscus and rhubarb balance the sweetness of the strawberry nicely. There’s a creamy finish to this, owing to the yogurt, I’m sure. This is a really nice dessert tea, and I’m sure it’s better for me than a bowl of ice cream.

Flavors: Cream, Creamy, Hibiscus, Rhubarb, Strawberry, Sweet, Tart, Yogurt

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 5 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 355 ML

drank Toasted Walnut by DAVIDsTEA

I’m pleasantly surprised by this tea because I’ve had a hard time finding a green tea that I like. My friend recommended this though after having the same trouble, and I’m happy that she did. This is a nice way to avoid some of the weird aftertaste that I find with green teas, with a slightly sweeter finish. The walnut isn’t overpowering, either, which I appreciate.

Flavors: Almond, Coconut, Pineapple, Walnut

Preparation
195 °F / 90 °C 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

This is a tea that has grown on me. The first couple of times that I made it, I wasn’t a fan, but I had two bags of it (one purchased, one gifted), so I figured I’d try it again. Now it’s becoming a staple during my nightly routine. This tea is mellow and not too sweet. I use lavender and chamomile lotion and room Wallflowers from Bath & Body Works to relax me and this tea helps to accomplish the same thing. :)

Plus: it smells wonderful. Minus: it tastes absolutely nothing like what it smells like. So bitter. I’m glad I only had a small bag.

drank Rooibos de Provence by DAVIDsTEA

I will admit that I brewed this from one of those samples that David’s Tea throws you when you order online from them, so I wasn’t precise in measuring the tea, or the water, so much of the problem I have with this tea could be attributed to my own laziness. That said, this tea seems weak to me. It’s just not very robust, although it certainly smells deceptively so. The aroma is delightful, particularly if you like berries. I also love the smell of lavender, so my expectations for this tea were high by the time I took my first sip. And I was sadly disappointed. I just wanted something more from it than what I got. It smells better than it tastes.
