464 Tasting Notes
So any of the blends I’ve had with guayusa have been really vanilla creamy (not buttery creamy like oolongs), so I was interested in tasting a straight guayusa just to see if they are that way.
This tastes very “green”- like fresh leaves or grass. It kind of hits you in the face like the scent of grass shavings or cut branches. It’s a deep flavor that really gets to the back of my throat and up my sinuses.
I didn’t taste much of the creaminess I was trying to find until it started to cool off and then it was just barely discernible. Maybe it’s just this particular guayusa? I’m interested to try more evenutally.
Momo box tea! I cold-brewed this so my whole family could try. It does taste rootbeer, but flat rootbeer. I also don’t know if I was imagining things but I kept thinking there was sasparilla and roibos, but they are not in ingredients. Maybe I was just thinking they should be!
Lovely tea! This has the creamy vegetal taste that I’ve come to associate with oolongs. I haven’t experienced that in a white tea before. The asparagus quality is sweetened by the floral elements, which deepen the taste and shine in the aftertaste. I could thoroughly get distracted by this tea at work! :-)
I needed something strong this morning, so I figured I’d try this. This is the first tea I’ve tasted that comes close to the feel of hot chocolate. Of course it tastes like a roasty, hickory-flavored, kind of fake milk chocolate. I like dark chocolate better. But this definitely gave me a jolt this morning, so it did its job.
Long day! My mom’s pinning ceremony was this evening after work. This tea was given to her as part of a gift basket. I made us both some after we got back to defuse from the day. Ironically my Mom loves teapots and rarely makes tea while I love tea and rarely bother with teapots! :-)
As for the tea itself, it’s delicious! Strong, juicy citrus pairs well with the sage. I barely taste the lavender which is a good thing because I still have mixed feelings about lavender. Too tired to go into much more depth about this tea. G’night all!
This is SO much better as a cold-brew! I steeped it for about 36 hours since I wasn’t home last night. A looooong steep!
The berries are actually the strongest flavor- MUCH stronger than in the hot brew. I also get a maple flavor, which I tasted none of at all before. I get a slight oolong taste, not enough to really discern the characteristics of.
This was a little rougher around the edges that the Verdant oolongs I’ve tried, but it was a pretty good, especially as a sample for 50 cents!
I seem to always be smelling oolongs at the front of my nose first, more forward than any other teas I’ve had so far. This one hits me there and then migrates to the front of my mouth, where I pick up a bitter greens taste (not unpleasant bitter) along with the oolong creaminess I’m starting to really love. The mouthfeel is a little dryer and rougher than the Verdant oolongs. It ends in a very bright taste and feel again very forward in my mouth, slightly astringent.
The biggest issue I have with this tea is that I smell something spicy, but don’t quite get that in the taste. You don’t hold up to your promises, you sneaky little tea!
I know! I’m lucky Verdant has been one of the first few companies I’ve tried and now I know where to get the good stuff! :-)
