1759 Tasting Notes

I drank this yesterday with milk, which made it much more like the icecream. Oddly, same as last time, I wasn’t interested in a second steep. Rare that I find something so satisfying, with no desire for more… Odd, for me! Still, I’m glad I have another sampler of this coming my way.

Oh man, she NEEDS to reblend this.

Definitely agreed on that!!

It should be a regular

Yep, I think so too. Except I really miss the Blueberry Creamcheese Danish, so kinda want that as a regular first…

So I’ve come around to this tea. Still finishing my sampler… but it goes down SO easy that sometimes it’s just what I need. Also, I feel as if it would be great for introducing newbs to puerh, and also for mixing tea mock or cocktails. I have a few xmas parties coming up, so I may experiment with a few things. From the blend they had awhile back at the tea festival, I know puerh goes great with lemonade, and orange juice so I may start there. Or cranberry.
Oh yah, and I ordered a whole tin during the black friday sale. Rating bump.

Wait? What? Please explain puerh goes great with lemonade and orange juice? I can’t wrap my head around that…..

Yes I was shocked as well!! Certainly not expected. But the blend was amazing and it’s been on my to do list for experimentation :D

YUM!!! Malty with tobacco and hay notes, and a bit of something fresh tasting I can’t put my finger on. Minerals? Either way, I’m a fan. Noms. Thank you for the sample Tea Historic!

edit Oops didn’t realize I should have added the bits/smaller balls. Will try a resteep…

Second edit: So I’m not really a jasmine fan, though it seems that black tea blends are an exception to that rule. Cuz I love it! Weird, I really don’t enjoy black tea flavoured with jasmine, only the blends with jasmine green and black tea. Rating bump. Also, it had a mouth drying effect once the tea cooled, which was kinda odd, but not in a bad way. I kinda like that part :P

Wow. It’s been a long time since I had this. Age did you well Momo Oolong!
Very peachy and roasty. A little floral on the second infusion.
My coworker mixed it with ginger turmeric tea – not the way I would go but she loved it… gotta respect that she knows what she likes!! :)

Evol Ving Ness

Creative application of tea, gotta give her that.

haha yup! I was surprised that she liked it after the cup was brewed

drank Oprah Chai Tea by Teavana

My chiro mentioned that she likes this tea with steamed coconut milk, so I thought I’d give it a try. They gave me two tea bags so it was kinda spicy. No syrup so not a latte and already sweet from the coconut. A good way to get my healthy fats!
It was a bit too potent so I added some shakes of vanilla and cocoa, which seemed to tone things down. Overall, I enjoyed it. Would go better with almond milk, I’ll try that next time.
Sadly, not a chai I’d keep in my cupboard as it relied heavily on the cardamom. I prefer a more balanced spice blend. I hear Second Cup has dairy alternatives besides soy now. So many versions to try…

Evol Ving Ness

Do you know what brand of coconut milk they use?

Hmmm I didn’t notice. They were working behind the counter. I’ll ask next time

Evol Ving Ness

I ask because some brands are loaded with sugar.

Oh I know! I hate that. Though with a chai I do find that I need some sweetener and since I didn’t add sugar myself or have syrup, in this case I don’t mind

Evol Ving Ness

London Fog latte is my dirty sugar secret. :)

I have a lot of secrets haha :P
Dirty chai is my most recent one

Evol Ving Ness

hmm, what’s dirty chai?

In a cafe, it’s a chai latte with a shot of espresso. Making it myself, I just add an inch or so off regular ol’ coffee to the mug, and milk/cream. But then I decided to experiment and added it to Christmas Morning from Stash, and it goes surprisingly well!! Today I did it with a Ceylon.

I made this for my coworker today. She likes it! a lot, I think?
She said it tasted like moss. and green tea. When I said it was supposed to be floral and peachy, she said she could see where they get that note, though it took some concentration.
When I left the office, she was on steep number two. Not sure if there were more after that, but I hope there were a few

I needed something to warm me up and since I don’t have a steeping basket here, well this was it. A comforting, non specific berryful cuppa. It did the job.
Also something vaguely chocolate like in the background.
Had the raspberry one as well today, though it isn’t in the database here and I’ve gotta head to a meeting. It’s less berry like though I did oversteep it by a min or two. A hint of tartness hanging around, though not really in a “berry” way. I’m just glad for the change from Tim Horton’s tea!!!
No sugar added.

I shared this with that same coworker as the mango tea from last week. She liked it.
She likes the taste (direct quote!). It was pleasant and tangy. Very lemony. Stay tuned for updates – I’m using her to help sipdown my cupboard :D

Evol Ving Ness

You are one smart cookie.

I’m using my kids for that. ;-)

@Evol – ha. Thanks. I try!

@Morgana – My boyfriend’s kid only likes earl grey (twinnings) and I’m allergic. I SO wish that was an option!!!

My kids just started becoming more adventurous this past year or so. Before that, they really only liked herbals.

The younger one just announced today that she wants to try more new foods, I was so proud to hear that from the pickiest eater I know! hoping that extends to tea one day :P

Made this for a friend and she loved it!
It brews up really strong, and she let it steep for a looooooong time. To each their own I suppose.

drank Orange Pekoe by Tim Hortons
1759 tasting notes

I’ve been drinking a lot of this lately. Convenience and a lack of kettle options at work means I’ll do anything for caffeine. It’s a long walk to work from the train as well (most of my thermos’s at home leak and I’ve yet to check out Evol Ving Ness’s Canadian Tire tip)

Anyhow. The boyfriend bought me a tea awhile back, and it was awful. It tasted really off, and not in a fake sugar kinda way. The tea tag was orange pekoe, so it wasn’t earl grey – I’m allergic.
It made me feel physically ill and I had to throw it out. Made me sad as we were at a vending event, the venue was freezing… I needed the warmth!

Michelle Butler Hallett

Canadian Tire tip? A thermos that doesn’t leak?

Yep, apparently Canadian Tire has a thermos that doesn’t leak! Evol mentioned it was good for topping up your other thermos as it doesn’t have a good lid to sip from, just pour from (apparently steepster ate the note it was attached too, or my brain is lapsing cuz I can’t find it :/)

Let’s see… I’m a tea and workout fanatic, I work in HR, and most of my friends consider me to be an egg. White on the outside, Asian on the inside :)
-from philosophy to food, I love it all
Otherwise, what you see is what you get! I can be very straightforward and yet shy.

Also, I’ve started taking tea sommelier classes and it is an absolute blast! Well, so far I’ve only finished the first out of eight courses, but I am really looking forward to the next one.

Anyhow, if your curious as to how I rate things, this is how I work…

Like eating dirt, or some other unsanitary indelicacy that mentioning in my profile here would likely get me banned.
I don’t think I’ve found cause to banish a tea to the wasteland yet though so who knows what it’d inspire ;P

You know that expression “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater”? I imagine drinking that water would be terrible enough to warrant this rating!
I’d never make my enemy drink this, but perhaps I’d throw it at them. Good thing I don’t have any enemies!

This is “tea”?? I tried finishing the cup… but my body rejected it. There may be others who enjoy this tea, but it’s beyond me!

I tried liking it, and I can almost get there! I certainly don’t hate it, but something is holding me back. Allergies? Men in white suits? who knows… certainly not me!

Lovely tea! Not my all time fave but close. I likely wouldn’t repurchase, but may decide to based on many factors: price, accessibility, whether it fills a “tea gap”, medicinal applications, and how often I crave it.
Every once in awhile I find the sweet spot that bumps these up to 90+. Those are the days I need to buy a lotto ticket!

Sweet Camellia! this is realllly good tea! Don’t talk to me until I’ve finished my cup…

Tea of the gods. I would do anything to get my hands on more of this liquid gold!
