Mmmmmm. Milk, a splash of coffee and a half teaspoon of sugar. My go to way for having this tea. I don’t think I’ll ever drink it any other way again :P

Arby

hmm I’ll have to try it with a splash of coffee. That sounds like it would compliment this tea very well.

Indigobloom

I started doing it with chai, but somehow this works even better!! they call it a “dirty chai” only in the coffee shop they use a shot of espresso… and it can be made well or poorly (I’ve had it both and I’m not sure what the difference is. Possibly the spices)

Backlog from yesterday.
A nice ish cuppa. Kinda harsh on the flavouring. and a bit oily tasting. Though I didn’t get to drink it until the mug was cold. Probably better as a latte. Maybe I’ll do that next time and possibly sip it down. I’m guessing it’s not aged well so I can’t really blame the tea! I’ve had this almost a year now.

Ugh. At the boyfriend’s house. Internet is down at my place so I’ve been suffering at home. and my phone battery is dying, it isn’t charging properly. Not that it matters, as the cell towers around my place don’t reach us very well, thus the wifi on that doesn’t work either.
Also, I tripped over a cord with the just boiled kettle and fell on my knee. Already bruising. Not my best day to say the least!
Hopefully it isn’t a setback that my chiro will have to address, she ain’t cheap and I’ve got a pile of other things for her to fix. On the plus side, she made my leg pain go away last time I saw her (well, 95% of it. There is still some residual stuff going on but that should be fixed when she looks at the other things, I hope). I’ll tell you the story because I think everyone should try this method out. Seriously. I HIGHLY recommend matrix repatterning (and M.A.T. therapy but that’s another story)
My whole upper torso is slightly twisted to the left, but you wouldn’t know it unless you were trained to recognize stuff like that. As in a personal trainer or physical therapist etc. My twistedness causes muscles to pull everything in a bad way.
I was super skeptical at first. Reading online, it sounds like a hippy dippy money waster. But I was desperate as the body tension was becoming unbearable. I’m so happy I gave it a go. After two treatments, consider me convinced. It’s a super gentle process. My leg issue wasn’t something I ever expected a chiro to be the one who would fix me. It was a muscle thing, not a bone thing or so I thought. All she did was place her hands on me while I was on the table, and keep them there for a few minutes. Literally no pain or jarring movements at all. Anyone who has issues in their body that doctors can’t explain, especially those with fibromyalgia (sp?) needs to look into it. Worth every penny. Yeah I was a tad sore after, although an epsom salt bath really helped. Long story short, I’m uber excited to finally have more forward movement.
Physical therapy for an entire year before that fixed a few things but stopped helping after two months or so. I wish I’d gone to see this chiro first. To say I’m relieved, and honestly? grateful!!!! that I’ve finally found something helpful is an understatement, I guess that’s why I’m so eager to share.
OK. Story over. If anyone has questions about my experience I’d be happy to chat.

On to the tea: warm and toasty and oh so good! Just what I needed to soothe me as I deal with the aftermath of my klutz drama. My whole body has stiffened up. Sighs.
There’s a little extra sweetness today even though I’m drinking it straight. And that refreshing menthol lingering once the sip is finished. This is just the first infusion. I’m looking forward to more :)
Almost half my stash is gone but I wasn’t planning to order more for awhile, as I have so much tea in my cupboard and a few things on the way. Plus my annual black friday/cyber monday splurge coming up. So do I ration this and hope it doesn’t go stale? or binge and deal with an LB cupboard gap. Bah. What’s a tea hoarder to do???

__Morgana__

I don’t know how chiropractors do what they do, but they always make me feel better, too! And mine recommended the epsom salt bath last time I went, when I’d pulled a muscle in my calf. It’s so soothing. Did you drink tea while in yours?

Indigobloom

Sadly no tea during the treatment!
Ah glad to know the bath is a common suggestion. Is your chiro’s process similar to what I described?

Evol Ving Ness

Ouf! Sorry to hear about the pains of your morning. Is your chiropractor located in the city? If so, I’d be interested in her contact info. I hope you feel much much better today. It’s a good day for tea and cozying up. Also, the hoarder in me says hoard AND buy soon.

Indigobloom

Thanks :) Feeling less shaky now.
Chiro is near St. Clair station. http://www.dralisoncoutts.com/
Definitely check her out! there are other docs who offer the same service in Toronto and therabouts as well. You can find them here: http://matrixrepatterning.com/Pa_practitioners

Let me know what you decide and how it goes!

__Morgana__

OIC. I did my bath at home, not at the chiropractor. Mine did some gentle manipulations but he also cracked me to align my spine and neck. I always feel like a bunch of tension is released after that.

Indigobloom

ah I didn’t mean I had the bath there. Mine was at home too (though our drain stopper broke so some comedy ensued haha)

Indigobloom

My pleasure Evol!! oh and in the lobby of Dr. Coutts office there is another unit where the ladies speak Polish. I could understand a few bits and pieces. Highly entertaining, feeling like a spy and yet not wanting to step in and declare that I understand some parts haha

Indigobloom

(I think it was Polish, could be any Slavic language as I only know a few words here and there)

MadHatterTeaDrunk

Feel better soon!

Evol Ving Ness

Great to feel like a fly on the wall sometimes. :)

I am looking forward to seeing you at the festival. It’s become a lovely pattern.

Indigobloom

Thank you S.G Sanders! :)

Evol – hehe tis indeed!!
Yes, I hope it turns into tradition :)

This was just… good. Kinda thin when hot, so one of the few teas I need to cool before indulging.
I’ve had a really stressful week (day off today, but I was taking a course all weekend so vegged out). I’m not entirely sure why I’ve been stressed, other than being in a new role, although there haven’t been any difficult situations to deal with, yet. and the boyfriend going through a business launch, and being in debt from getting paid so little the last few months – this raise will let me pay bills, but catching up will be hard.
Still, it is all just accumulated stress, without any real incidents to speak of. I guess it all just piled on and started to really get at me today. Anyhow. I was so grateful to have this tea in my cupboard. It is always more comforting than I expect it to be. Only made it to three infusions, which I’m kinda kicking myself for now

Evol Ving Ness

Totally feel ya. Hope the cloud lifts soon.

Indigobloom

Thx Evol, I really need it to pass. Currently taking it out on my boyfriend after he said something shtupid – haven’t “really” talked to him in 3 days(you know, the basics, but nothing more). Can’t decide if I’m overreacting or not haha

Evol Ving Ness

You’ll figure it out (for both of your sakes:)

Indigobloom

haha hope so! :)

Holy astringency. I usually add milk, and sometimes forgo it. This time? No way could it have done without.
Very coppery. The astringency is mouth puckering, edging on downright sour even with milk and a packet of sugar. Now, I need my caffeine so I will finish it. Eventually. (my colleague brought me a coffee, so I’m gratefully sipping that down for now!)
Ok… so now that its cooled a bit, the sourness is not so strong. I’m getting some nice malt mid sip.
I suppose my love for complex teas has swayed me a bit on this one. Hmph. Still not the best first impression. And that malt isn’t enough to make up for this next part!
Copper comes through in the swallow and aftertaste. It reminds me of eating a penny. Or the taste of blood… only I’ve never had that much in my mouth at one time. Creepy. For that reason alone, I will never buy this tea again.

Ohhhhh my. So perfect today.
I added a few splashes of coffee and it really brings the whole cup together. With milk and without. and half a teaspoon of sugar.
Ugh. This headache is on day two now. Four extra strength tylenol did nothing yesterday. No time to hit up the pharmacy for investigation of other options… boyfriend has a vending event tonight and we’re busy getting ready today. Bah.

drank Winter Cabin Chai by 52teas

Yesterday was a good tea day. All the spices came out nicely. Past cups of this have been a bit dominated by one spice or another, only I hadn’t realized it til this one.
I forgot to set a timer as well, so it was pure luck. Also, a few dashes of milk and one third of a teaspoon sugar really brought it all together. Just enough sugar to accent the spices, not cover them up.
Oh. And my internet at home is down. Tech is coming today. Really hoping for good news.
I use internet to turn my brain off, streaming tv shows etc. So I’m a bit stressed out now, not having had much chance to relax (reading books is nice, but I end up overthinking without the combined visual and auditory stimuli, and I haven’t got any new fiction books to read at the moment). Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Autistic Goblin

Sounds like a perfect plot for a horror flick

Indigobloom

haha well Halloween is coming so good timing :P

The caramel here came off a bit astringent. Sour isn’t the right word but it did carry aspects of what I associate with it. May have let it sit too long in the cupboard although I made a small cup of this ages ago and it was more of the same. The oolong part was rather soft as well. Definitely done in more of the traditional way than the “green” oolong style… which isn’t my favourite (really gotta be in the mood to enjoy).
Overall, rather tasty, all considering. Might have done better as a latte?
Thanks for the sample Sil!!

I made a small teacup of this yesterday. Not sure if it was the small amount and full tsp of leaf or what… but the cup was very tasty. Added a dash of milk because well latte is in the name, and I didn’t want to overwhelm the flavours by too much milk. Perfection. I feel like a full on latte treatment would be too much here. This way, all the flavours were balanced and so delicate that I tried to savour it for as long as possible.
If only every cup could be like this!! I find genmaicha to be a finicky blend no matter where I get it from though, maybe because the rice/tea ratio will always be different.
Also? Still not getting much if any pumpkin, but the spices were there of course

Profile

Bio

Let’s see… I’m a tea and workout fanatic, I work in HR, and most of my friends consider me to be an egg. White on the outside, Asian on the inside :)
-from philosophy to food, I love it all
Otherwise, what you see is what you get! I can be very straightforward and yet shy.

Also, I’ve started taking tea sommelier classes and it is an absolute blast! Well, so far I’ve only finished the first out of eight courses, but I am really looking forward to the next one.

Anyhow, if your curious as to how I rate things, this is how I work…

0-25
Like eating dirt, or some other unsanitary indelicacy that mentioning in my profile here would likely get me banned.
I don’t think I’ve found cause to banish a tea to the wasteland yet though so who knows what it’d inspire ;P

25-50
You know that expression “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater”? I imagine drinking that water would be terrible enough to warrant this rating!
I’d never make my enemy drink this, but perhaps I’d throw it at them. Good thing I don’t have any enemies!

50-70
This is “tea”?? I tried finishing the cup… but my body rejected it. There may be others who enjoy this tea, but it’s beyond me!

70-80
I tried liking it, and I can almost get there! I certainly don’t hate it, but something is holding me back. Allergies? Men in white suits? who knows… certainly not me!

80-90
Lovely tea! Not my all time fave but close. I likely wouldn’t repurchase, but may decide to based on many factors: price, accessibility, whether it fills a “tea gap”, medicinal applications, and how often I crave it.
Every once in awhile I find the sweet spot that bumps these up to 90+. Those are the days I need to buy a lotto ticket!

90-95
Sweet Camellia! this is realllly good tea! Don’t talk to me until I’ve finished my cup…

95-100
Tea of the gods. I would do anything to get my hands on more of this liquid gold!
