1759 Tasting Notes
Ok so now I’ve had this a few times, I’m glad I got some before it disappeared. It fills a gap I didn’t know I had! Not expected but I’m ok with that.
This is a very mild blend. Great alone, and easy sipping with milk. Not so good iced, with milk sadly. I need to try it cold brewed and with no milk as well.
Will definitely have to find something to fill the hole when I eventually sip this down :)
One day I’ll post a review with actual flavour notes haha
I bought this as a sample at the tea festival, and I’m quite glad I did!
Very nice. Smooth, pungent, and a great balance. The roasted flavour adds a nice contrast to the mild seaweed vegetal notes. I wouldn’t go for this if you’re looking for a “fresh” tasting sencha, as the roastedness made it less so, but not in a lovely muted sort of way that reminds me of a gentle sea breeze. I’d buy it again, no question
This was… interesting. Certainly not what I expected. Likely because the last time I bought tea from this guy, it was an aged oolong as well. This one was much sweeter, in a more maple way, and a bit thinner… and less oolongish. Not much complexity. Surprisingly little astringency, which intrigues me. I’d buy more just to experiment!
Overall, a pleasant cuppa. I won’t rate it because it’s been awhile since I purchased my sample and I don’t have a scale, so couldn’t measure out the 5 grams.
Also… this is my first CTC oolong. I wish I had more
I was making a cuppa this, when Mum stepped into the room and looked alarmed. “do you smell smoke? something is burning!”
She was standing next to my tea. I told her to take a sniff. She looked a little sheepish :P
Anyhow. I find this tea far too plain and astringent. Adding milk and chai sugar helps perk things up! One of those teas I’ll go through quickly as I can experiment with it. This should be fun
I made poor man’s long island iced tea: this tea, lemon juice, tequila and a bit of sugar. Not bad! Me likey.
Hot, it is quite mediciney. But cooled down… oh man that was good!! The ginger and peach is a lovely complement to the alchohol part. Not overly strong. The lemon brings out some tartness that I enjoy as well. I’ll probably add a squeeze or two when I’m having the virgin version as well.
Great balance of flavours and it goes down easy. A girl could get tipsy on this. Hehe.
Aw yeah! second steep of this was so smooth.
I’ve tried it before, and it was a little meh. But the first cup was nicer than usual and I figured it’d be worth a shot, despite my sample being bought eons ago (at the boyfriend’s, totally forgot it was here).
The latest batch I have at home isn’t nearly as balanced. Ah well. C’est la vie
Based on the website description, I expected this to be a hair smoky. Certainly not something I’d prefer sans leche! I found it rather delicate and very balanced. Satisfying in a way I haven’t yet put my finger on.
Of coursea all I have in the house is almond milk and I was realllllly craving milk tea so I tried that today. It worked well enough, despite a few almond clumps(organic for ya), though I feel the need to wait before rating as it definitely is not what I expected. Still quite tasty overall.
Also… I tried duck egg this morning. Ahhhhmazing. I have a new addiction.
P.S. Farewell Majesteas, Ian and Robert will be greatly missed xo
I have a bunch if anyone would like to try, as I’m holding the last of it!
I think this’d go nicely as a latte. Hmm. Not sure I have enough left for that. Maybe with almond milk?
Not the most flavourful Lupicia blend I’ve ever had but I don’t mind. Its tasty, if not clearly “raspberry”. I think I could pick out the berryness though. There is something delicate in there, adding a certain complexity that I find appealing. But… The base is a bit harsh for the flavouring, sadly.
To be honest, I’m enjoying it far more than I expected based on the reviews. Getting that tea high I so love now! I must have got the proportions and timing just right. Woot!
Doncha just love it when you can consider tea as “mediciine”???
I developed a headache earlier and was almost(but not really!) glad for the opportunity to have tea with a purpose. Seriously! Caffeine + tylenol = remedy nods
Anyhow. I decided I wanted to have this iced, with milk and a bit of honey. At first I was kinda regretting it. The flavours weren’t really working for me somehow. But after awhile things seemed to gel and I really enjoyed it! I was definitely sad when the giant mug was empty. So yeah, if you wanna try this baby cold, let it sit for awhile first :)
I guess I’ll have to write a proper review with tasting notes another time. But if I recall correctly, this is pretty mild, malty, and just a hint bready when hot.
Glad it worked for you! The only thing I find about having teas for colds or other specific purposes is that I’m trying to decrease my cupboard number and I literally have 1 bag left of one tea that’s just waiting to get used up (that one being “coat throat”). Another tea is supposed to be an aphrodisiac and there’s maybe 2tbsps left, another a nighttime tea and there’s 3 bags. So frustrating lol.
I know what you mean. I have a few that I keep and rarely have for that reason. The nice thing about this remedy though is that where the stimulant caffeine comes from doesn’t matter, as long as it gets delivered! :)
I do the same thing for headaches…I always go for a straight black. I mean, you CAN buy tylenol that already has caffeine in it, but it doesn’t taste as nice as tylenol with tea. :P
Hehehe totally agreed on that Plunkybug! plus it can get expensive buying so many different meds. I already spend enough on my tea :D
My “medicine cabinet” is primarily peppermint, tulsi, and raspberry leaf, but sometimes plain ol’ straight up no-nonsense black does the trick!
