336 Tasting Notes
I took a risk with this blend because I really dislike licorice.
It turns out that this is an awesome blend. I could appreciate the richness of Shu; the ginger and pepper gives it a little zing. It’s nicely balanced and the spices add to the taste instead of overwhelming it. I barely noticed the licorice :)
When I read the ingredients considering what to order this blend seemed to have everything I really like: bergamot, jasmine, saffron and goji berry. So I had pretty high expectations.
It’s a nice blend, I love the citrus sweetness and hints of jasmine. But I have to admit that this is not really my favorite. I still will definitely enjoy it and do not regret trying it.
I got this as a sample, thanks! The dried tea leaves are large, thin and dark; smell: grain, melon, honey. It tastes so good, I love the grainy/malty notes and grapefruit and honey aftertaste.
To me this does not need any sugar as it is quite sweet. Then again I don’t like sugar in any tea.
I’m craving this again. It is my favorite from the new Zodiac series. For me it has the right balance of green/white tea + the faint taste of apples and mint. I truly enjoy this.
I’ve decided not to rate teas anymore. When I drink tea I like to go with the flow; just experiencing the taste and smell without devising some “objective” grading system: I’m just not very good at that anyway.
I’m more and more drinking Shu Pu’er. This one is particularly sweet, rich and musty with notes of cinnamon. I also like that the tea looks like some pieces of ancient tree bark.
I have to admit that in the past I have been somewhat apprehensive about buying Pu’er from unknown vendors. I always admire how people buy Pu’er on eBay. I don’t know .. it just makes me uncomfortable. I’m not an expert so I need some guidance, I need a vendor I can trust and so far Verdant tea has been excellent.Preparation
Just received my order from Verdant tea and brewed this right away. So good. “… aroma of antique lacquered furniture that has absorbed decades of incense.” describes it really very well. Sometimes I like this overbrewed so that the tea gets very dark and intense.
David, thanks for the Wuyi sample. Wuyi is one of my favorite teas so I’m super happy to try this one.
