I’m beginning to suspect I’ve become the home for unwanted teas. Another friend gave me a packet of teas the other day. She could not identify this one but said there is a strawberry hint to it. After checking out the website, I figured out it is lemon berry blush.
I’m definitely saving this one for early summer. I think it will make a fabulous iced tea. I first taste the lemongrass and then I taste the strawberries. Definitely a fruity flavor. I think even the kids would like it.

Ooh, that does sound like summer just waiting to happen!

This is one of the last in the sampler I received at Christmas. I kind of knew going in to this mug that it might not be for me. As I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of things that are malty. Definitely a strong malt taste and bitter aftertaste. Steeped for just under the recommended 5 minutes. I think if I was to drink this again, I definitely would try doctoring it with some milk and honey. The rest of these bags will be tucked into the “rest of the family can try” drawer.

I absolutely adore how this smells while steeping. The citrus scent is very enticing. Used boiling water and steeped for 4.5 minutes. While sipping it, I am reminded of Tang, the powdered drink mix of astronauts and cold weather camping trips of my childhood. At the same time, I find a bitter after taste. Added a honey spoon and the bitterness was dulled but the citrus remained.

Tried a second steep after reading another tasting note. The citrus scent was dulled and the bitterness as well. Honestly, it ended up just being a bland cup of tea the second time around.

Black, Malty, and Strong… just as it said on the box.

Not a fan though. Probably because I’m not a huge fan of the malt taste.

I think I’ll pass this off to the spouse. He might like this one but it’s not for me.

drank White Rose by Numi Organic Tea

I received this from a friend who gave me a gift of some of her favorite tea bags. I always want to love roses. However, my allergies get triggered with most of their scents so I’ve not tried many rose teas.
Spring is here and I’m ignoring the fact that the meteorologists are threatening snow tomorrow. My allergies are already in full effect, so I broke out the tea. I heated the kettle to 175 and steeped as directed for 3ish minutes. The tea is definitely not overpowering. I like the light floral taste and while the tea bag had a strong rose scent while unwrapping, I don’t notice much of that while drinking. It’s not a bad little tea and I could see using it for a tea party with my daughter and her teddy bears.

Flavors: Floral, Rose

I’m sipping this while the weather has it’s annual battle of winter vs spring. We’ve had seriously scary high winds, 60+ degree days, and now it’s snowing and 30*. Tomorrow back up to the 50*s.
There is no doubt that this is peppermint tea. The tea bag from the foil has a strong scent. Steeping, you could smell it through the kitchen. It has a nice warm smooth feel. Perhaps a tiny bit oily but not unpleasant. If you’re looking for peppermint, this tea does not lie.

Sounds exactly like the weather here. 50s one day, 2" of snow the next. I’m over it!

drank Well Rested by Trader Joe's

I had not noticed this at TJ’s in the past, so I snagged a box this week. Trader Joe’s teas can be hit or miss for me and I find them to be inconsistent from box to box. But I love TJs and am a sucker for picking up tea there to go with all the other snacks I shouldn’t be purchasing.

I had a mug after yoga and hoping for a good night sleep tonight. The primary flavor I taste is spearmint with a slight hint of floral. Not too bad. I’ll see how the other tea bags stand up.

drank Hibiscus Spice by Allegro Tea
235 tasting notes

I’ve had this tea for a bit. I believe I picked it up at the Christmas Tree Shoppe. I learned today that this tea company is owned by Whole Foods which is owned by Amazon. The tea bag I have has a defunct website listed on it, which led to me searching the internet. I also learned that this tea “helps lower blood pressure”.
This is not my first cup but I keep trying it because I have a belief that I “should” like this tea. The ingredients are all things I like and I love the color and scent. But I think if I’m honest, I don’t care for it and that’s why its still lingering here. It’s mildly tart with a hint of spice. I kind of wish the spice was less subtle. I think it might work well for an iced tea or cold brew for the summer.

I’ve got a whole lineup of those “keep trying” teas, myself.

drank Gorgeous Geisha by T2

Starting the day with a little mug of green today. This was a welcoming gift from a tea group I joined. Typically I drink greens in the afternoon or on a summer morning but I’m mixing it up a bit today. I found it to be a rather underwhelming. It’s a green tea with a slight strawberry taste. It has pretty good reviews on T2 but I didn’t find it very exciting.

A sample that I received in a Tea Fairy mailing. I’ve hesitated to try it because many ginger teas are just too much for me. This was good though. I enjoyed the lemon with a slight zip at the end from the ginger. I could see this a good cold season tea.

Bio

In the early 2000’s, my brother worked for a grocery company that removed items from the shelves and I ended up with a cabinet filled with random tea.

After I finished that cabinet, I started trying new things and exploring the world of tea. Still exploring, still learning, and loving this community.

I tend to take my tea with no additions and quite hot. Though often I find myself having to reheat my mug due to distractions. I’m partial to herbals, white tea, green, and blacks. But I really will try anything once.

Rankings:
100-80 Love in varying degrees
79- 60 Good, but in the friendzone
60-50 Ok, would drink if offered
49-20 Don’t make me try it again!
19-0 Didn’t finish!
