This was tasty. Nice light and appley. What I’m more excited to say is this is a Sipdown!

Doing my Sipdown dance right now. . . #11- Huzzah!

Roswell Strange

Does your sipdown dance look anything like a touchdown dance? If it does we may need video…

Nichole/CuppaGeek

It might. . . .

Kristal

Been sipping down myself lately, so I feel your excitement! Went from 52 teas 2 weeks ago to 32 teas. I have 2 more teas that are 2-3 servings away from being done, but I also ordered 4 kinds from DAVIDs. Either way, progress is being made :).

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Nice! Yeah, I ordered a sampler pack of 30 times the other day. . .oops. . and then 52 Teas had a sale. . .I have a problem but I’m good with it:)

Kristal

at least sampler packs are quick to use up! That a big part of the reason why I decreased my collection so quickly ;)

I reviewed this tea awhile ago for SororiTea Sisters but forgot to add the link on Steepster. Oops! Sorry about that LiberTeas!

But I’m happy to announce this is #10 on the ol sipdown journey! Woohoo! Not going to lie, when I finished this one up-I did a little dance. And of course, I was caught doing said little dance. I may have gotten a funny look from the ol fiance.

To the tea: This tea was good – but not for me. It had lovely notes of malty goodness but there was something I really didn’t care for. I’m not sure I would reach for this one all the time, but I do feel like my tastes are changing from green teas to these lovely black straight teas. I seem to be reaching for those more and more.

This tea hit the spot last night. I think we ended up making up about 6 infusions from it. The twins loved it and asked me to order more. I love it when they share my love for tea. Roasted toasted fresh & crisp. So good and this will be amazing as the weather starts to turn fall-ish in a month or so. .

BTW- This is sipdown #4. . I have a long way to go and I may have just ordered 32 more teas :/ but I’ll get there. . . . .right?!? There is such a thing as a manageable tea stash. . yes???

Sil

yes! as near as i can tell, it takes at least 3 yrs to start to get there ;)

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Hahaha :) Good to know!

Sil

in all seriousness though..I’m just now starting to feel like i have a good handle on what i love, what i like, what i like seasonally and i’ve lost that urge to TRY ALL THE TEAS. i still like trying new things here and there, but i don’t need to try EVERYTHING. I’m at year 3+ on steepster haha

Nichole/CuppaGeek

I hear ya. I joined Steepster in 2010 and am just now coming to that point. But I still love trying new things. Like you said, you just don’t feel like jumping and trying everything. You know what you like and stay within that realm.

I swear I have boxes of this in my desk drawer at work. I’m not sure what ever came over me to get so many but I’m going to make a valiant attempt to drink some of these down.

This isn’t a bad tea. I like the lemon tart flavor I’m getting and the pick me up from the mate. Just not sure I needed 3 boxes worth of it. This is going to be a long sipdown.

drank Jasmine Tea by Naveya
553 tasting notes

This tea hit the spot. Sweet jasmine floral green tea. Not overdone. Just simple. The jasmine sweetened the tea nicely with a floral background finish and the green tea was there but subtle.

What bothered me was when I first checked this tea company out, the company had a beautiful lovely website (tho confusing). Now the website has been completely revamped and turned into a weight loss fitness tea site. Not sure how I feel about that. Anyway, the tea itself was good.

I know this isn’t tea related- but the school year is upon us which means teachers will be digging into their own pockets for supplies. I noticed the other day that reddit is doing a Teacher Exchange where you send whatever you can in the way of school supplies to a teacher who may need them. Maybe take a moment and check it out? Its in the Geek portion of the post below.

Happy Monday all!

I know that tea does have SOME benefits, but some companies really overplay it, which I don’t like either. You can drink all of the tea you want but if you are still eating at McDonald’s everyday it won’t help you lose weight :/

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Exactly! I’m just not a fan of tea companies saying this tea will make you burn fat! Yeah, it might but if you are shoving a dozen oreos in your mouth at the same time, well. . . .

Kristal

Haha exactly!

Or if you drink 8 cups of tea with plenty of cream and sugar, dunno how much it’ll help you…

This is one smoky chai! I took one whiff of the dry leaf mixture and knew that I would have to doctor this one up a touch. So I took a chance and made muffins out of the blend!

They turned out pretty good. I think the smoky flavor actually became more pronounced but the chai flavor along with the white chocolate was lovely when paired up with the honey bran muffin mix I pick. Sweet smoky cinnamon clove honey muffin goodness! Super easy and super fun. I have so many ideas on how to make some pretty yummy fall muffins coming up in a few months.

For this blend on its own, I think the smoky flavor really overwhelms the rest of the chai. But it is called Fireside for a reason. If you are a fan of smoky teas, I think you’ll like this one. I’ve just had a lot of smoky teas lately and am sort of burned out on them :/

Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves, Smoke, Sweet, White Chocolate

Shae

Have you tried any of their other chai blends? They have a few that look really good!

Nichole/CuppaGeek

I’m hoping to later this week/next week. So far everything I’ve had from them has been good, except for one that had a rooibos like flavor.

DenverTeaHound

I love this company! The chocolate mint black and coconut white chais are also wonderful.

This tea makes me so happy! Sweet cinnamon vanilla love. Ah. So Good. I’m cold brewing the rest for tomorrow. This tea is one I could have been good friends with.

I’m counting this as Sipdown #2 since I threw the pkg away (That might be cheating a bit since I used the majority of the leaves for some cold brew love tomorrow).

Got the house to myself for a few hours so I’m going to see how many sipdowns I can complete.

This will be #1. I agree with everybody’s reviews on this one. Not enough of the birthday cake flavor and the flavor I am picking up isn’t a nice raspberry but more of a chemical flavor. Not my favorite, but I’m still glad I was able to try it. I bet this one would be better cold brewed but I won’t be able to try it since I used the rest of the bag on this cup. Thanks Marzipan for sending it to me!

sundaysipping

Too bad – raspberry birthday cake sounds awesome.

Jillian

Maybe we can petition LiberTeas to create her own version? ;)

Nichole/CuppaGeek

That would be a good idea! Oh LiberTeas. . . .

I am trying hard to complete some sipdowns. I’m excited to say SIPDOWN to this one. It isn’t bad but it isn’t fantastic either. What I do really like about this tea is the honey like flavor. Plus it is easy to steep up at work.

This particular tea is a blend that Vampyre Tea Co is working on (isn’t available on the site just yet)and they asked me to try it and see what I thought of it. Since I’m not the biggest chai fan I wasn’t really looking forward to trying it but I told them I would. I brewed this up like you would any other chai and tried it and it was ok but that is when I got all sorts of creative.

I make myself overnight oats just about every day for the next morning so instead of adding in the normal amount of almond milk I usually do, I added in some of this chai tea brewed a bit stronger than usual. The next morning I had chai tea overnight oats. It was so good. It reminded me of cinnamon oatmeal with a spiced kick. I’ve had it now the last couple of days and I’m pretty impressed. I think if there is a tea I don’t really care for and is just so-so I’m going to start trying this to see if I can find a way to still use it.

Fjellrev

That sounds so good!

Nichole/CuppaGeek

It was. I don’t know why I had that spark of inspiration there but I’m going to try it with all my Chai and herbal teas that are just laying around right now. Might be able to make a dent in my tea stash that way.

Fjellrev

It makes so much sense to do it, too. I’ve added ground spices found in chai to my oatmeal in the past and it was great, but the overnight method must really create a lot of depth and flavour.

Elle

Thanks for the awesome idea! I’ve put matcha in my oatmeal and really enjoyed that, but never thought to brew tea for oatmeal…chai sounds like it would be great!

Bio

I’m back and hopefully for good! After a bit of a hiatus, I want to get back in the habit of logging my tea journey for various reasons.

I never know how to start these things. I’m a 40ish tea loving gal who enjoys tea parties, horror movies and polka dots/plaid. I have an amazing supportive husband who has allowed our house to be over run by tea in more ways than one. We have four kiddos between us along with our two furbabies that we love as much as they drive us nuts. Our family truly is our world.

Now on to the tea: I love all kinds. I’m not a huge fan of red rooibos- truly is my arch enemy but I love green rooibos. Beyond that, I’ll try everything once or twice to make sure I didn’t bumble up the steepings. Recently got into puerh and enjoying the adventure. If you are interested in something from me, just holler at me. I’m always up for trying new tea blends or sharing with others!

I’ve also started blending up my own teas at http://www.cuppageekteas.com/ I try to make fun unique blends to brighten someones day with.

I am also the admin behind SororiTea Sisters. If you are interested in reviewing teas for us, let me know!. We are always looking for guest reviewers or contributors: http://sororiteasisters.com/.
