50 Tasting Notes
This is the tea that sold me immediately by smell. This and pumpkin chai were what I brought home from the David’s Tea Fall menu.
They captured banana nut bread perfectly, my nose would have been convinced I was sniffing a fresh loaf.
My first thought to looking at the dry tea was “is this trail mix?”. Once I brewed it in my tea strainer, I noticed bits of it were dissolving/falling apart.
The tea itself was a light colour. Smelt lightly like banana and the taste was a light with a banana after smell. It was alright for a banana tea (not usually a fan of banana flavoured anything). But since I had some chocolate milk in the fridge that was about to expire I decided to warm it up a little and froth it with my Aerolatte and made myself a chocolate banana bread latte.
After sipping a bit of the latte, I picked at the bits in the strainer and realized it’d be a waste to throw it out (the tea was expensive for what it is) so I threw the rest of it into my cup and ate it, which a first for me haha. I suppose it was tea turned soup?
I don’t usually bake but I’m pretty sure you can toss this into something.
A very light floral smelling tea, like a green tea but more fresh?
My favourite part of it all was the brewing experience. I watched the tea leaves unfurl, they turned out to be light green in colour. Don’t know if it’s even possible to describe tea but I thought the leaves were cute. :P
The tea itself was a pale yellow. Taste wise, it’s good not bitter. I rarely drink white teas so I am not an expert at what is a good white tea.
Not planning on restocking but I did enjoy the cup.
I asked DavidsTea to recommend me a tea that had lavender in it (I was on a lavender hunt, because of a certain lavender earl grey latte I had at another place) and they showed me this one. I had this steeped in my travel mug but I never got to try it because I had forgotten it at work. It did leave a nice after smell to my mug after the wash, for some reason I thought it reminded me of bubble gum. Maybe that’s just me.
I will give a better note when I actually get to try it.
Surprisingly not a big fan as I thought I’d be and I LOVE salted caramel anything.. :S Maybe it’s because I had it straight and not in a latte. The dry leaf scent was what sold me in the first place but when brewed it left sort of a weird after scent on my timolino. Taste wise it was pretty decent. Will give it a try again.
I’ve been waiting all year for this to come back so I could sniff it in store. I had it made as a hot latte today and it was perfect. One of my top favorites for the cooler months. Reminds me of fall and pies! I’m so glad to have it on my tea shelf.
How I drink it: Make it into a latte with foam and toss a bit of cinnamon on top! YUM YUM
I’ve always had my Chai teas as a latte so I wouldn’t really have much of an opinion on whether if this is a good or bad straight Chai. I can note that it’s not as spicy as the ones I’m use to but it was probably the amount I steeped. Overall it’s decent to me and fills my chai latte cravings especially for night since it’s caffeine free. :D
I worked in a mall that had this store and I’ve tried many flavours before it. This the first DavidsTea that I got in an 100 gram tin! The sales girl sold me on it when she made it into a soy latte (with a teensy agave for the foam, yummy marshmallowy goodness). It was so good that it had me go out and get myself a milk frother just so I could recreate the latte at home. Must try it iced next time!
