drank Grapefruit Oolong by Adagio Teas

Smells amazing! You can really smell the orange they added to it and it mixes very well with the scent of the grapefruit.

The taste is that of fruity pebbles. It makes for a great breakfast tea and I could see that with maybe a little sugar it would make a nice dessert tea.

I love Fruity Pebbles. I have no idea whether/how much I’d like it in tea form, but the idea is intriguing. =)

drank Almond Oolong by Adagio Teas

I enjoyed this. You could really taste the almonds in it which was really nice. It reminded me of sweetened almond milk, which I suppose would be a good thing since it is supposed to taste like almonds. Only thing I didn’t like is there was a bit of perfumey taste to it.

drank Wuyi Da Hong Pao by Adagio Teas

The dry tea smells like raisins with a hint of plum. Steeped the leaves smell like Chili, more specifically turkey chili from hormel. The taste is kind of boring, there is a little smokeyness to it with a little bit of the raisin taste. It is mostly boring to me.

This is a rather boring Da Hong Pao, but don’t give up on Big Red Robe, they can be sooo full of flavor! When Verdant’s comes back in stock you should order a sample as well as every one of their shu’s, great intro to pu’erh (I just read your profile).

Matt

I actually had been planing on getting that one from Verdant when they had it but waited too long and missed out. On the plus side I just placed an order for a sample of almost every one of Verdant’s teas so I don’t miss out again.

So it took a few tries for me to actually make it right but I have finally, after a year of try, been able to make a near perfect cup of Matcha tea. Now that it has been made correctly, I love it. There is a very light taste in the mouth of vegetables freshly washed and the bubbles on top add a nice texture. I actually really like using this as a face mask when my face breaks out every so often, for some reason it just seems to really clear out my face.

drank Passionfruit by Adagio Teas

Once again, another free sample that I received either with an online order or from a contest. I think I’m not really a fan of the flavored teas from Adagio. I think this is because they seem to be vary astringent and I just don’t feel like changing how I brew it. In small batches I really like it because I am able to get the full flavor of Passionfruit out, though for the most part I have not really been able to get it to stay that way. I probably should just try harder, but don’t really feel like it. Oh well.

Well this is the final free sample I got from Davids Tea. I have to say I really love it. You can taste the apples and the pistachio nuts in the brew. I feel like it would be wonderful to eat.

drank Formosa Ali Shan by Adagio Teas

Alright, so I’m still sick so I’m not sure how well this will taste to me regardless. From what I can smell it smells slightly buttery with a little hint of wet grass on a warm summer morning. I kind of like this smell, it’s somewhat relaxing. Has kind of a heavy taste in the mouth and tastes kind of like butter salad. That sounds nasty to me but it really doesn’t taste that bad. There is also another taste in there but I can’t quit put my finger on it. I like it but I don’t love it, if only it felt lighter.

drank Indian Summer by DAVIDsTEA

Alright, second sample from Davids Tea. I love the smell of this one dry and wet. It smells like some kind of candy and I am finding myself fighting to keep from eating it. The sad part about this is that I am not too much of a fan of the taste of this tea. I like the notes of apples and the hint of blueberry. The thing I do not like is that the blueberry and apple taste’s are fighting to hard for the top spot. I might try steeping it for less time later just to make sure it tastes fine.

drank Chai Town by Adagio Teas

So I have never been a huge fan of Chai tea, since I just don’t like the scatchy feel of the spices. This being the case, I still felt compelled to buy this since I wanted to try all 3 of the Chicago teas. I mean I live there so I might as well know what it tastes like right?

I had this first a few weeks ago and it was fine. There was the typical scratch of the spices and with this one there is a quite a bit of taste of clover to it. I liked it though for the most part but couldn’t help but think I would like it more it I had some sort of cold or other illness.

Today I got to prove myself right. I have felt under the weather for about 2 days now, probably due to lack of sleep. I decided this morning when I got home that I would brew up a cup or two and see how it made me feel. I have to say that I feel freaking amazing now. My throat feels better and my nose has cleared up, so I guess I got what I wanted.

drank Banana Nut Bread by DAVIDsTEA

Well I got this as one of my free samples with my order. This was my first time trying Davids Tea and I have to say, so far I like it. It tastes just like Banana Nut Bread. I feel like I could drink this all fall and never regret it for one moment. I might actually order some, at least once I have cleared out some of the tea I already have.

Profile

Bio

Well, to start, my name is Matt. I got into loose leaf tea my sophomore year in college. I was drinking some lipton tea in my room when I started thinking to myself that there has to be something more then just bagged tea. So I decided to do a web search and found out about loose leaf (you would think that this would have been an obvious thing but surprisingly it was not). I stumbled across a local tea cafe called Argo tea and decided to try it out. Long story short, I fell in love. From this one store I have started to branch out to all different types of tea from several different stores.

My favorit tea is very hard to choose since I like pretty much everything there is that I have tried. I have recently started getting into pu’erh teas, which is getting to be interesting. I am always looking for new a greater tastes when it comes to tea and am trying to better express my experiences with tea.

Aside from tea I am an actor in the Chicago area. I do mostly theatre and various film projects through out the Midwest. I recently started doing Voiceover work, which I have to say is very fun and easy going.

My number ratings are more random then anything. Since I have no idea half the time when I move the slider on the happy face meter what number will be showing up.
