3 Tasting Notes

This tea reminds me of a Roasted Almond tea I get from my local tea shop, except that is an herbal tea and this has oolong in it. They smell the same right out of the bag – warm and nutty with hints of spice. What I’ve always hated about that tea is how the apple will overcome the nuttiness, until all I taste is low calorie apple juice. I hoped this tea might be different.

As other comments have noted, it isn’t. The first sips are heady and spicy, with only a hint of apple. But the more you drink, the more the apple takes over from the nuts and spices. I don’t taste the orange that others do, but I would agree that the complexity really only comes out in the first few sips of the first brewing. Since it’s an oolong I rebrewed it 3 times, just to see how it comes out, but alas, it’s just more apple juice.

I like it, but I probably wouldn’t repurchase it.

I got this tea as a end of finals present to myself. I can legitimately say I looked more forward to trying this tea than I did seeing my family over the holidays.

It really met all my expectations. Creamy with notes of white chocolate and peppermint – and not too dense, considering the ingredients. My only wish for this tea is that they made an herbal version next year – it’s such a good dessert tea but I don’t like having too much caffeine before bed.

I got 2 ounces of this tea in one of those heavily discounted teavana gift sets (Thanks, super sale!). I’d never heard of this one before, but comments led me to believe that this tea might be better than Slimful Chocolate Decadence, my favorite Teavana tea of all time, I was very excited.

The tea smells amazing when you open the container. Just so delectable. It really does smell like a sea salt caramel chcoolate bar tastes. I gave the tea its full five minutes to brew, but the color was surprisingly light to me. Nevertheless I gave it ago.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, but better than Slimful Chocolate Decadence? Nah. It is very creamy with great caramel notes, but the sea salt aspect is missing to me. I also didn’t taste the chocolate as much as I expected to. So to me, it’s a bit one note.

I went to look up more information about the tea on Teavana’s website, but it didn’t come up. I guess they are discontinuing this one. That’s too bad – I’d like to experiment with it, I think it’s quite tasty. I’ll just have to get my sea salt caramel fix the traditional way – with a chocolate bar.
