Backlogging from yesterday. Used up the last of this to help me survive wandering Kensington with the inlaws. We stopped in the Blue Banana Market and were very pleased to discover a little tea section, complete with a few Harney & Sons teas! None of this, however, which made me very sad. It does wonders for my throat through this illness that will not die. We placed an order with H&S 11 days ago and have yet to hear anything from them, so I’m assuming it has not shipped yet, which is really, really disappointing. To the point that I think this might be our only order from them. This tea is amazing, but the cinnamon chai from DT is amazing too, and with much better customer service. International shipping takes forever as it is, there’s no reason to add another week to the process, especially when the only difference is the addition of a customs form.

Anyway, end rant, I love this tea, I’m just less than pleased with the company.

Have you e-mailed them to complain yet? I’m so sad to hear that you’ve had an echo of my own experience with harney…only worse. I still haven’t ordered from them again, and don’t know that I will. The service was really lacking. I’ve spoken to a number of American Harney customers who had amazing service, so it seems our international status is what does the damage.

On the plus side, if they ever e-mail you to say it’s shipped, you’ll get a tracking number!

I was at that tea stall the other day, admiring the cute pig yixing pot.

Harney & Sons should really clean up their act! I’ve been planning on placing an order with them for a couple months (waiting for finances to co-operate) and this really puts me off.

Feel better soon!

Unitquity, I emailed them this morning, I hope I hear from them soon, this is just…irritating. I’ve not run into his issue with any other US company, so I refuse to believe that there’s nothing they can do. But yay tracking number! To be honest, if it weren’t for my obsession with the Alice in Wonderland teapot we ordered from them, I would have canceled the order by now, which makes me sad, as I do enjoy a number of their teas.

Jessie, I had no idea they carried teas at Blue Banana or we would have been in there a lot sooner! They have an adorable elephant teapot I would love, love, love to have! Maybe the next time the money tree blooms…everything in there is so expensive, but that’s Kensington. It’s either dirt cheap or painfully pricy.

Thanks for the get-well wishes, hopefully this crud will leave soon!

Bah, Uniquity* Spelling is hard, man!

Well, let’s just hope that your order was shipped, but the e-mail wasn’t ; ) I can understand the need for an Alice in Wonderland teapot…I feel like there was one on the Pippins website I was quite fond of. It says it’s Paul Cardew..It looks like it might be the same as on Harneys? Is Pippins in your neighbourhood at all? Who doesn’t love to go local.. : ) If you go to http://www.pippinstea.com/ select teawares and scroll down, you’ll see it.

Daddyselephant

Oooh, yes, Pippins is local…there are a ton of teashops on Queen Street….hmmm. The teapot from Harney’s is a Cardew, those are the ones I’ve been eying for ages, so of course, now I find one locally ;). We will definitely need to check that out next time we’re downtown. I wish they had prices listed…

That’s sad to hear about the customer service. My experience with them has always been amazing, really kind people.

Daddyselephant

Yeah, I’m thinking it’s more of a international customer service issue. US folks seem to have absolutely no issue with them, but I’ve met quite a few Canadians who have ordered from them once and won’t do so again. shrugs Their loss, I guess. There are tons of amazing local shops here in Toronto :D

Formerly aisling of tea, now you can call me ele .

“You can forgive a murder, but never a mistake while preparing tea.” Chinese proverb

Labels? Here you go: Femme, Wife, Lesbian, Homemaker, Happy. Don’t forget tea fanatic!

New label as of May, 2015: Diabetic. I’m using tea to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings and keep me hydrated without hurting my system or messing with my blood sugar.

Ah, tea. My love for you is ever changing. At my last update, I was all about the rooibos and now I hardly drink it. I only occasionally had an oolong and now I have one just about every day. I’ve learned the art of resteeping and coldbrewing and kombucha. I have a lovely little tea pet named…well, I haven’t decided on a name for him yet. I also have five! live pets, a tabby cat named Rosabella Francis (Bella for short), a ginger cat named Orange Julius Pekoe (Pekoe), a white and grey cat named Earl Jean Grey (Earlie), a tuxedo cat (and the only boy in the house) Prince Erik Darien Darjeeling (JiJi) and a red foot tortoise named Da Hong Pao (Pao). So if you see me referring to my girls, I don’t have kids, just animals.

As for tea, I love oolongs, herbals, and black tea. Since I am no longer working, I no longer feel the constant need for a mate energy boost, though I do still reach for it from time to time. I also drink less matcha, though I do throw a spoonful or two in when I’m making smoothies. Most of my tea I drink coldbrewed, and since I discovered coldbrewed rooibos was giving me headaches, I’m drinking less and less of it. Straight pu-erh is not a thing I enjoy, but there are a few flavored blends I like. Greens are still too finicky for me to bother with hot, but they make great cold brews.

I am by no means a tea purist. I greatly enjoy flavored teas and I put stevia in all of my teas. It’s just how I do.

I think I’m going to name my tea pet Mr. Turtle. Even though he’s a tortoise.
