1473 Tasting Notes
Just over the US/Canadian Border into New York, we stopped to use the washroom at a Tops. On our way out of the store, we spotted these and had to try them. I got this one (tea and a penguin? I’m sold). It was tasty. I would have preferred some Long Life Oolong, and the oolong bit was a bit stronger than I like it. Still, I enjoyed the list of natural ingredients, the explanation of what oolong is, and the use of Fair Trade teas. If I still lived in Lockport, NY, this is a tea I can see myself enjoy often as something quick to go.
Preparation
Yum yum yum. We are leaving in 15.5 hours (gah), so while we were running errands this morning, I stopped in for a cuppa this. It was delicious! I loved that they used real watermelon in the mix. The Oolong was a bit stronger than I care for, but all in all, this was way better than a coke and I feel better for having it.
Preparation
Sooooo good! but I am tempted to try the grape- every I ask, they are out of the juice, makes me wonder if it’s that good, to keep it out of stock all the time!
Yeah, the grape was very tempting, but I was in a watermelony mood. They’re running some kind of promotion, get six stamps on a certain card and you get prizes or whatever. He tried to give us the special card, but the promotion ends on 8/15. We’re coming back on 8/14 XD
Yeah, this tea was okay, but I finished it up yesterday and don’t think I’ll be replacing it any time soon.
I feel exactly the same about this tea!
A new one came out yesterday though.. pomegranate something.. it looked just like this tea but 10x better. I’m trying it on wednesday, let you know if it exceeds Strawberry white b^_^
I was in store today and took a sniff of the Pom Power. It smelled amazing, but I’m a bit worried about two things. 1) Hibiscus. I hate the stuff and it can ruin a tea for me, However, I might dodge a bullet in that as I only steep my whites for 30 seconds, so it wouldn’t give the hibiscus time to take over. 2) The pomegranate seeds look awful heavy and I’m worried it will end up like Mango Madness. Tons of heavy fruit with very little white tea, therefore crazy expensive.
We’re taking off at 5 tomorrow morning to spend 2 weeks in the States in no-tea land, so I didn’t get any, I wouldn’t have the time to devote to brewing and tasting it properly, so I very eagerly look forward to what you think of it!
This is truly one of my favorite teas, even more so when chilled. This is the other pitcher of tea I made for the inlaw invasion, but it wasn’t cool in time. Still, by the end of the night, it had cooled enough for me to have a cup and it was delicious. The vanilla and oolong wrap around each other so beautifully. This is the tea that made me go “Oh…that’s what people mean when they say oolongs are buttery.” I want to drink this one for days. I also love watching this one steep, I’m very grateful I set a timer or else I would have been completely distracted by the leaves and let it oversteep.
When we’re coming back from our trip to Tennessee, we’re stopping overnight in New York to visit my brother, and I am bringing him a ton of tea and a perfect mug XD. I’m bringing a pouch of this. He’s tried one oolong and said it tasted like feet, so I’m going to brew some of this up and see how he feels about it. If he likes it, he gets to keep the pouch. If he doesn’t, it is so coming back home with me! Hot or cold, this is a favorite of mine.
Preparation
lol yeaaaaah probably no. He’s not in NYC proper and I’m still on a semi boycott of Harney & Sons lol.
hahaha I dunno if I’d be able to hold a grudge that long against a place that provides such yumminess! My tea chi is weak…
Jealous of your TO connections n_-
I was just there a few weeks ago, should have stocked up on tea instead of shoes haha!
Alas, I’m stuck in Regina with nothing but David’s Tea and 2 unknown loose tea places. It does the job though b^_^
Around noon yesterday I realized my inlaws were coming over for dinner, and all I had to drink was a lone beer, orange juice, and root beer tea that we didn’t like that had been sitting in the fridge for a week.
So I set to making tea! I made this one first, because my mother in law loves berries. I got a 10g sample in store a little bit ago and have only had 1 cup of hot out of it, so I used the rest of the package and steeped the leaves twice to get a full pitcher. I’d rather use less leaf and do multiple steepings. I’ve also gotten into the habit of not using an infuser for my pots-of-tea-to-be-iced, as I pour them out anyway into another vessel. I just strain as I pour.
This one managed to be cold by five with the help of a few hours in the fridge and the ice tube insert in the middle of the pitcher. We went through about a liter of the stuff! It was light and refreshing, just what we needed after heavy Chinese takeout. Still, I have many other whites I like a lot more, I’m not sure I’ll be replacing this one. Probably not as long as I have Strawberry Rhubarb on my shelf.
Preparation
this is my fave… it’s so light!! and crisp, but I have a feeling that was just the batch I bought, and not a regular happening *sighs
I used to pick up Honest Teas all the time for convenience. They make a point not to be overly sweet and artificial, which is an absolute must in my book. Still can’t believe high fructose corn syrup is in some “teas”…
