762 Tasting Notes
I’m trying to rotate trying all my new teas, so I sample a new one everyday. (Steepster has been very bad for my budget! But good for my tea obsession) Today is Not So Vanilla’s day. I was hoping the kenalog shot would have restored my sense of smell (and therefore taste) but it hasn’t. So I’m probably missing a ton of vanilla deliciousness. For what I can taste, this is a mild, smooth tea. I taste no bitterness, nor is it as sweet as some others. The first sip tasted very like any other tea, but as I drank the cup down I found myself savoring it more and more. It tasted almost creamy to me. I can see myself enjoying this in the afternoon.
Flavors: Creamy
Preparation
I bet this tea would be marvelous to drink on the first cold night of autumn. It just feels like fall to me. You know, falling leaves in gold and red, high school football, and cold rain splashing on the windowpane. I can definitely feel the spice in the this tea. I can’t detect the other flavors, but just the warm tea and warmer spices is enough to give me enjoyment. Glad I ordered this one !
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves
Preparation
Had this one this morning for breakfast. I liked it. No bitterness, although a slight astringent note when it was very hot. When the tea cooled a little bit it was smooth. I wish I could smell! The package says it has an amazing aroma. A very nice tea in the morning.
Preparation
I received my package from Tippy’s Tea today. I also received packages from David’s Tea and Tea Source today. I had a cup of Cold 911 because I have a nasty sinus infection, but after that I looked through the teas I ordered and decided to try this one next. Boy, am I glad I did! This is smooth, very smooth, and sweet on its own, no sweetener needed. I don’t have a sense of smell, so I couldn’t smell any chocolate or mint, but I swear, I could feel chocolate and mint. If I close my eyes I get the same sort of feeling I get from eating Junior Mints. Sweet, minty tang of candy, not the harsh tang of toothpaste. It’s hard to explain to a smelling person, but a lot of teas are interchangeable for me. I honestly can’t taste the difference. With this tea, I KNOW I’m drinking Minted Monkey. That’s the best thing in the world for an anosmic like me. I have a lot of tea to drink down, but as soon as I get my stash under control, I’m ordering more of this!
Flavors: Chocolate, Mint
Preparation
I received my package from David’s Tea today. I ordered Ginger Pear and Cold 911, and it wasn’t hard to decide which I would drink tonight. My cold has morphed into a sinus infection and I feel pretty miserable. The doctor prescribed Levequin (sp?) and I prescribed Cold 911. Even though I can’t smell it, the steam has enough menthol-like qualities to help open my sinuses. The taste ( to someone who has no sense of smell, and thus very little sense of taste) is a teeny bit menthol-y. I probably wouldn’t sip this tea for pleasure, but when I have a cold or my sinuses are completely swollen shut, this is the tea I want.
Preparation
Ah, so nice to have a pot of this after a cup of something not so enjoyable. Yesterday I went to the doctor and got a kenalog shot. This drug shrinks the polyps in my nose. Soon I’ll be able to breathe through my nose, and maybe even smell things a little bit. I’m looking forward to smelling this tea. As I recall, it has a nice scent.
I know this is a seasona ltea, but i’m happy to drink it all year long. Except for those adodrable little candy canes, it;’s just a good, mellow peppermint black tea. Yummy!
Tried this one again this morning. Did the rinsing thing that someone suggested, and it helped enough for me to drink the full cup. Still don’t think I really liked it though. Maybe pu’erh teas just aren’t my thing? I still have a good 40 grams of this. Sigh.
Ack!!! I put this to steep and then my phone rang. 8 minutes later I remembered my tea. I was horrified! That beautiful tea, over-steeped and probably bitter! I tend to prefer weaker, milder tea because I can’t bear even a hint of bitterness, so I steep at the shorter end of the scale.
But no! The taste is stronger, but not bitter. Still enjoyable even at an 8 minute first steep. I think I enjoy this tea more with every cup.
This one sounded so good! Something refreshing to drink in the late afternoon or evening. However, I found it very sour. And there was a strange, metallic taste in my mouth after I finished. I didn’t care for it. Even if a friend served this I’d decline. :( Just not my cuppa.
