A very smooth and drinkable selection. Not super overpowering especially with a good rinse. An earthy creaminess is the best way I can think to describe it. A good tea buzz is achieved through multiple gongfu steeps. A solid tea overall.

This was a really nice, lighter flavored tea for this evening. The liquid felt smooth and light in my mouth. It had the feel of a white tea with some of the flavor from a Jasmine tea with each playing a minor to the others major, if that makes sense. Look, it’s late. Basically, this is a really nice and dependable blend for those times when you want a lighter and slightly floral tea.

Well this is a fun tea. The insanity part, for me, comes from the color the tea brews up. I was not expecting an electric purple (for the dramatic crowd)/bright lavender(for the pragmatic crowd). The flavor itself is a light, sweet, slightly floral blend though with so many different kinds items in this blend, I have a feeling your tasting experience with be slightly different every time. What fun! This is actually really enjoyable the more that I drink it. It is very smooth and I feel I’m getting a slight tangerine after taste.

drank Oolong spa by Liquid Proust Teas

Yup, nailed this blend. From first sip to last, all I could think about was how I could absolutely drink this in a spa. The scents and flavors are so classic and specific to that experience. Really good for relaxing by a fire at night.

This was a delicate flavored tea. I had it before bed and I think it was the perfect tea for that time. In both the dry leaf and the brewed liquor, there is this faint undertone of melon. The first steep, I didn’t get too much of the melon flavor, mostly the white-green tea blend. The next few steeps however is where the melon came out to play. I imagine this is because the dehydrated melon pieces in there didn’t get fully saturated upon the first steep.

It is interesting because when I think of melon, my mind automatically associates watermelon. But this was more of a cantaloupe melon. Less juicy and more of an earthy rind type of cantaloupe/melon flavor. I apologize if that makes it sound bad. It isn’t. It is just a bit different than what my mind conjured up upon reading Melon Punch.

I would recommend this tea as long as you aren’t expecting a fruit punch type of watermelon flavor.

I just received my large order of tea from Liquid Proust Teas. This tea was the first one I tried because I asked my wife which one she wanted to sample first and this was the one.

The name of this is so appropriate. At first I thought this was just a kind of quirky name for the sake of having fun. But after smelling and tasting this tea, I get EXACTLY how he came up with the name. The dry leaf scent of bergamot come through with a peachy note intertwined. It is enough to catch your attention. But the magic really happens when the leaves are steeped.

The liquid has such a sugary sweet peach note that my wife and I couldn’t stop smelling the cup. It is seriously bordering on magical how a tea is able to elicit such a sugary sweet note on the nose. The wet leaf definitely lets the bergamot shine. The taste on the tongue alternates between the peach and the earl grey type of flavor. Like I said, with the whole scent and tasting experience, the naming of this tea becomes obvious. I think the choice of the formosa is really an understated key as to why/how this tea becomes more that just an average tea. I think it lends itself well to create the sugary sweet peach here.

Really fantastic introduction to Liquid Proust Teas.

These are exactly what I was hoping for. They have a strong Jasmine scent both in the dry leaf/ball and also in the steeped liquid. It is not overly strong. Sometimes something floral can go over into a perfume type flavor and scent. Not the case with these. I am a huge Jasmine tea fan and these hit the spot. I imagine they could be a bit bitter with over steeping or over leafing but when done right, these are pretty good.

Light, sweet, buttery, delicate. All of these things describe this green tea. It is not heavy handed but if you pause and take the time to focus on the delicate nature of this tea, you will be pleasantly surprised. I brewed it western style and was able to get 2 really good steeps and 1 weak one at the end but I am excited to try it gong fu and see what that reveals.

Used the last of my sample of this tonight. This was a delightful oolong. The scent of the leaves and the flavor of the liquor were different enough for me to take note. The wet leaves have a sweet hay/grass scent. The liquid itself had more sweet, slightly floral characteristics. The mouth feel was buttery. I really enjoyed this.

I’m sure this is a lower quality Genmaicha but I have to say I really enjoyed the distinct popcorn/toasted rice goodness of this tonight. Nothing too special but a good every day tea.

Bio

Michigander, Husband, father of three, lover of tea, books, nature, gardening, and passion. Stay at home dad currently. Previously a preschool teacher.

I have now completed some tea swaps and I am so totally up for swapping! What a cool way to connect with fellow tea lovers and try some new teas. My tea cupboard on here is woefully out of date though.

Black tea has been my go to tea for some time. Oolongs are good too but mainly roasty oolongs. I’m finding that there are some green and white teas (mostly Moonlight Whites) that impress me lately which they never used to do. I am getting into and developing a taste for Pu-erh. I have tried raw and my Ulcerative Colitis just can’t handle the roughness of it. So I stick to ripe Puerh. I am recently drinking more herbal tea or Rooibos especially STRONG ginger blends. I’m not too picky.

Some of my favorite places from which to purchase tea are Whispering Pines Tea Co, Verdant, A Quarter to Tea, Beautiful Taiwan Tea Co, Bitterleaf Tea, and Yunnan Sourcing.

Rating system:
90-100: Some of the best I’ve ever had. I’d be a fool not to keep it stocked as often as possible
80-89: A damn good tea. Not to be missed
70-79: A good tea but lacks the wow factor. More than likely a simple tea that could be an every day option
60-69: Eh. This is okay. Not swill by any means but fairly underwhelming.
50-59: Not really doing it for me. I’ll finish it but please don’t bring me any more.
Below 50: Life is too short to waste on things such as this
