A nice, crisp, basic light black tea. I agree with their comparison to assam.

I didn’t notice the green tea at all. I tasted pineapple, although that is nowhere on the list of to be expected flavors. It was somewhat muddy. I’ll try it again cold. As a hot tea, it’s not near the top of my list, but I’ve certainly had worse.

I really liked this one. The pineapple was excellent. Super, super strong smell out of the package that lessened a bit after steeping. Very fruity and sweet without tasting like sugar.

drank Vanilla Mango by Design a Tea

Smelled wonderful when I opened the package. Reminded me of a summer day. It was good hot but the vanilla notes were not very noticeable. Cold was still tasty.

drank Earl Grey by Design a Tea
790 tasting notes

I got some samples from Design a Tea today! I thought I should try a staple first, though. All Earl Greys are different. On this blend, the bergamot definitely comes through strongly. It’s almost like a blend I have from another company (now out of business) called Grand Earl Grey. The bergamot and citrus notes are very strong. It smells heavenly. When cool, the astringency comes out a bit more, but still a less dry mouth feel than many black teas. This seems to be a good blend of Assam and Ceylon. This is a very nice blend.

I’m sad that Paper Street is no more – I love this green tea. Smells fabulous and actually does taste like blueberry.

Still one of my absolute favorite blends. Smooth, well balanced and goes well with both sweet and savory foods. Mild bergamot with tones of apricot and vanilla – I don’t notice caramel at all, though.

drank Yunnan Pu-Erh by Chi of Tea

Brews a dark brown, almost like coffee dark. An honest tasting tea. Earthy like pu-erhs normally are but not grassy or like hay. The yunnan seems to moderate any bitterness and smooths it out. Of the pu-erhs I have tried, this is the best so far.

Smells definitely of orange when dry. Like orange vitamins. Brews into an orange tinged liqueur. Mildly sweet, couldn’t really taste the florals. Reminded me overall of chalky orange medicine. Not altogether bad, but it won’t go in my normal rotation. I don’t care much for pu-erh though and I did like this better than the pu-erhs I have previously tasted. Not as earthy.

A very classic Darjeeling taste. Good color. Smells like I think tea should smell, but I tend to drink Darjeeling as my every day tea so I am probably biased. Mild earthy notes in the aroma with the mild muscatel as in the company description. Good hot, better mildly cold to room temperature where the flavor notes really come to the fore.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but I taste no panda paw in this, nor is there any fur, so I hope Chi of Tea can keep this available. :)
