Trying this as a latte this time thanks to the sample of it CupofTree gave me to take home. I followed the instructions DT has on Flickr, but there’s not even enough tea to make 16 oz in their little sample so I made it for 12. 6 oz water, 6 oz milk, a a tsp of brown sugar, and the sample packet.
It certainly smells better in a stovetop chai form than it does with a regular steeping.
Now I can see (taste?) why everyone loves this one! I guess it just sort of needs the creaminess to step things up. It wasn’t a bad tea with just the addition of sugar, but the stovetop prep really made a difference. And I think the brown sugar adds another layer of flavor. This is so rich, I am almost tempted to see what it’s like if I used coconut milk creamer instead but there is no more tea for that for now.
Now I know for sure I am going to get that adorable 100g tin.
It’s like pumpkin pie in a cup, and definitely not like a traditional chai at all. I avoided it before because of the chai in its name for absolutely no reason.
I love this one as well!
