Popular Tasting Notes
This tea is definitely worth a try, but is not a favorite of mine. I received a free sample of this, and it smells enticing. The taste is similar to the smell: very fresh with fruit hints but without an overpowering ‘tropical’ palette. The chai flavors (cinnamon, anise, clove, etc.) are weak but do round out the tea. Steeps evenly with nice aromas.
Preparation
My absolute favorite tea!
This tea tastes like comfort to me. I actually give out a satisfied sigh every time I have it (daily). It tastes like butter, slightly green, slightly apple-y.
Flavors: Apple, Brown Sugar, Butter, Butterscotch, Cake, Caramel, Creamy, Honey, Kettle Corn, Popcorn, Sugar
Preparation
The aroma is wonderful—deliciously cherry-without smelling like fake cherry cough syrup. I almost like opening the bag and smelling the tea as much as drinking it!
The taste is just enough cherry as to enhance the Sencha, without overpowering it. That’s the point of flavored senchas after all, right? To add a twist to the original, a new way to enjoy the normal cup of sencha.
If you find the cherry flavor not strong enough, especially on the 2nd brew, brew it hotter (between 190 – 200) and it will come out more.
Rating –
For Sakura Sencha: 100/100 (I doubt there are much better Sakura Senchas out there — any one challenge that, or have any suggestions to try?)
For Green Tea: 90/100
Overall: 95/100
Preparation
Of course, watching the tea bloom is most of the fun, but this sweetly flavored tea was a great surprise. It was big enough for a whole pot in my Teavana Belle Amitié glass pot. Per the instructions, I let it steep for 10 minutes after filling the pot with water heated to the “green setting” on my electric kettle (I need to actually measure the temp at some point…). I had mine with a little bit of blue agave.
Preparation
I’m used to green based Jasmine Tea, so I tend to forget the adjustment on the temperature which it’s crucial for brewing white tea. The smell & freshness of Paper & Tea teas just blows my mind. The smell is like if you were taking a night walk through a humid jasmine forest. The flavor besides the obvious jasmine, is like a mossy, earthy & a hint of smoke. The liquor is light vibrant yellow. Although it holds 3 brews quite decently I opted for a bit longer one brew, like my jasmine to knock my cup up.
Flavors: Floral, Jasmine, Smoked
