Popular Tasting Notes
love forbidden fruit and so sad to find out that they aren’t keeping it on board at david’s. so i bought myself a full tin and have been enjoying it at home. this was actually the first tea i tried at DT and it was during a really snowy day in February. The tea instantly warmed me up and the fruity scent and taste made it feel like maybe it wasn’t so wintery out there after all (of course when the cup was done, i learned it was). love this tea and drink it often without ever getting sick of it!
Preparation
Another Japanese green from my order from raku-cha. I used my default green tea steeping: two and a half minutes in water at 75-80C and it seemed to be about right for this tea. It has a bit of a grassy aroma, similar to other Japanese teas, but it’s not overpowering. It produces a bright yellow brew and the taste’s really not bad – plenty of flavour but a lot less earthy and woody than I was prepared for. I actually like this one quite a lot. All in all, it was a pleasant surprise.
I always forget how much I enjoy sipping on this tea. It has a light vegetal taste with a hint of sweetness that comes from the popped rice pieces. I have also enjoyed this tea as an iced tea and it is quite tasty in a rice cracker sort of way!

Preparation
This will always be what I think of first when I hear “cup of tea”. I’ve been drinking it so long,I don’t even know how to rate or describe it. I guess it just tastes warm and comforting to me, and has the familiarity of a childhood stuffed animal. I decided to have one this morning; it’s probably been a year or so since the last, but I had a craving. It’s kind of malty and so mellow. I have it with a splash of soy milk and no sweetener, and it’s just lovely. I feel so gauche waxing romantic about a bagged tea that’s been in a Ziploc bag in my cupboard for ages, but I don’t care! It’s just what I wanted this morning, as I work from home today at the island in our kitchen, enjoying the feeling of early autumn sun on my back and listening to the dog snoring on the couch.
