It’s sad to see this go but I suppose it is time to be out with the old and in with the new. I still have other Marshmallow Treat options so I should be okay for a while without this.

Today it is very weird since it is smokey. I have never noticed that before but there is definitely smoke to this. It helps sell the roasted marshmallow element which is also prominent. Underlying it all is milky chocolate and just a whisp of graham cracker. It’s really nice and the perfect cup to say good bye even though it is different than almost every other cup I have had of this tea.

Kittenna was kind enough to share some of this blend for me to try and it is really quite nice. Soft apricot notes with a touch of creamy vanilla. The flavors are subtle, but there. And if nothing else, the crystallized violet petal contributed a cool blueish-purple ring of tea that hung out at the bottom of the mug. When I got to that part of the mug, I got sugar and floral notes as well so in hindsight I probably should have stirred this before drinking. Still, it was pleasant and that made for a nice pop of flavor at the end.

Thank you Kittenna for the sample as it satisfied my curiosity and left me happy. I don’t think I need anymore of this but I am grateful to have gotten the taste :).

drank Sparkle Pony Oolong Tea by 52teas

With more tea inbound, I figured I should at least attempt to drink up some of what I have here to make my cupboard more manageable. This is a sad one to say good bye too seeing as I have surprisingly really enjoyed it. I did not expect to be a fan in light of the oolong base but this is floral and rich and has a great ginger flavor. I don’t even mind the lack of ginger spice because the taste is just so comforting and great. This was fun while it lasted and it is one I will miss.

drank Fruity Vanilla by CitizenTea

Turns out it was the tea that was quite fruity. Generic yet fruity. With a touch of creaminess from the vanilla. It is fine for a cup but nothing special. This is a sipdown and I am okay with that as I am not sure how much I will remember this in the future anyways. It delivers what the name promises but in a non-exciting way.

This makes one weird eggnog latte. It’s like sweet, creamy eggnog and then savory/roasted/vegetal rice. The two just don’t really mesh and the strawberry seems to be gone completely. It’s not terrible but certainly not a recommended method of prep for this blend. Fun to try though :)

My house went a little french toast crazy a little while back and my tea was no exception to that. Check out the French Toast tea showdown between this tea and the 52 Teas French Toast Blend here: http://sororiteasisters.com/2016/12/23/french-toast-showdown-52-teas-vs-the-necessiteas/

Speaking of french toast crazy… have you ever tried french toast made with banana bread? It’s an amazing twist. I’d imagine pumpkin or any other specially flavored bread would make a fun alternative as well.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
