Thank you Memily for sharing but this is not for me. It has a very strong ginger quality combined with a sweet cinnamon flavor and the two are just not blending well. I wonder if Sil has tried this as I know she is a ginger fan. Perhaps I will pass along the rest of the sample as this really is not for me. It was still fun to try though :)

Cameron B.

Blarg ginger! :P

VariaTEA

It can be good in some quantities but this was far too much for my tastes

Memily

Yes, it is for a specific sort of palate I think! And this year’s blend is missing the orange that (in my opinion) really tied it together :(

VariaTEA

I could see that toning down some of the other flavors that were rather harsh. I wonder why they changed it.

Oooooh Roswell Strange, you know me so well! This tea is delicious!! It is creamy strawberry and vanilla all bundled up in one perfectly magical caffeine-free cup. Yum! Thank you Roswell Strange for sharing as this is definitely a tea for me.

ETA: As I continue to sip, I realize that this reminds me of Butiki’s Birthday Cake…a lot. And I LOVE Butiki’s Birthday Cake!

drank Cherry Bomb by T2

When I was brewing up my cup of Finbarr’s Revenge, I decided I wanted a flavored tea as well. I had so many options but I landed on this one and honestly I think it is because of my current obsession with Guardians of the Galaxy seeing as Cherry Bomb is one of the songs on its soundtrack of fun 70s/80s pop music. Anyways, as I sip on this tea, I can’t help but feel it is pretty awesome in its own right. It has a bright cherry flavor that manages to avoid taking on a medicinal/cough syrup quality. There are also notes of dark chocolate every now and then to keep this from becoming too sweet. It is a really, really nice tea. Plus, the base is smooth and provides the perfect foundation for the flavors to shine. Thank you Memily for sharing this with me. It made for an enjoyable cup.

Memily

Ahhh thank you for tying thoughts of this tea in with that excellent movie. So much fun.

TeaLady441

I NEED to see that movie!!! It’s driving me crazy. :P

VariaTEA

I have already seen it twice and will potentially be going a third time tonight. Clearly I am a fan :P

So Cavocorax snuck this into a box of teas she gave me and tbh I have been putting it off because for some reason I thought it might be astringent or harsh. I am guessing either the name or the fact that it is recommended to be served with milk and sugar is the reason for my thoughts but I decided it was time I tried this out. Now that I am drinking it, I realize I had nothing to fear. It definitely is more brisk than what I usually go for but at the same time it is smooth and has a nice hint of honey sweetness at the end of each sip. I added a touch of skim milk as per instructions but realistically it didn’t really need it. Thank you Cavo for sharing! This tea is good, and I will enjoy my sample though I don’t know if this is something I will seek out more of once its gone.

Work and lack of taste has kept me from tea and steepster but now as I can taste the sugary sweetness of this tea, I am happy to say my taste is coming back! It is not 100% yet so no trying new teas but I can work on older teas and still enjoy them so yay!

Thank you Scheherazade for sharing but I wasted this tea. I have a cold and since I could taste my food I thought I’d be able to taste the tea but no such luck. So, this is just warm water to me and I am sad because I was really looking forward to this one. Oh well, c’est la vie.

Cheri

That’s disappointing. My allergies are really kicking my butt today so things taste really muted.

I was being impatient and didn’t want to wait for tea to steep so I made this instant treat and iced it. It is sweet and juicy and tastes like apple juice. T2 suggests lemon with this and I can definitely see how this would improve the cup as it would cut the sweetness just a touch. Still, it is a pleasant cuppa so thank you Memily for sharing with me.

Got this as a teapop based on the recommendations of the DAVIDs employees. I gotta say, I did not love it. I think this is best cold brewed because it keeps the hibby from taking over. Today, this was a combination hibby tartness, seltzer water carbonation weirdness, and just a hint of yogurty creaminess.

Oh North Winds, you really are quite lovely. Tbh this cup is more astringent than I remember the last one being but it does not mean this is unpleasant in any way. It is chocolate and honey that lingers long after the sip is done. Yum. Thanks again Cavocorax!!

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
