This tea is delicious but I just don’t reach for it as often as I should. I have had this since December and I think this is the first cup I have made. It is gooey caramel, fresh vanilla, and malty Assam and it is awesome but for some reason, it always gets forgotten.

drank Caramel Corn by DAVIDsTEA

Got this iced as my $1 refill and it tastes just like caramel corn! Yum!

Dustin

So is it any time you bring one of their mugs or cups back in you get a $1 refill?

OMGsrsly

It’s one of this year’s iced tea cups, OR if it’s an old cup you have a $10 buy-in for the season. I haven’t asked about anything other than their iced tea cups.

I got the sticker…my mom got it for me, actually. I’ve already paid for it by having 3+ iced teas. I put the sticker on my Frequent Steeper card so it would not get lost or destroyed by being on my cup when I wash it.

Good idea, Amariel.

Last night I tossed some of this into my new iced tea mug to take upstairs and drink it. Unfortunately, I never got around to drinking it last night and so I am drinking it now, keeping with my fall theme of the morning, mostly because I need the mug back to get my $1 refill at the mall :P. Today’s cup has a bit more vanilla sweetness than the last but pumpkin spice is still the most dominant flavor and chocolate sauce is no where to be found.

Pumpkin pie crepe + ice cream + chocolate sauce seems like it would be way too much going on in the same tea

Southern Boy Teas

Commented elsewhere, but worth repeating: This was so insane. The story behind this is that I was taking suggestions for bonus flavors to create and then having people vote on their favorites. In one round, I accidentally concatenated two suggestions “pumpkin pie” and “crepe with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate sauce” when I was copying and pasting suggestions to the update where I asked people to vote on their favorite idea. Well, this new hybrid flavor won by a landslide. I did my best to create it, but I think there might have just been too much going on.

drank Sugar and Spice by DAVIDsTEA

Apparently I was in the mood for fall flavours this morning as I grabbed this and a pumpkin pie tea for my morning cuppas. This particular tea I loved so much when I tried it that the fear of losing it inspired me to buy 250g of it. Then I promptly fell out of love with it and was left with a surplus that I had no idea how I would ever drink. As I brewed my cup today, I half expected to be putting this in my swap pile. However, I don’t know what I did but this is tasting like a delicious cinnamon coffee cake with vanilla icing drizzled on top. Or perhaps a tasty snicker doodle cookie. Whatever I did, I am really liking it and it is making the thought of drinking this less of a chore and more of a delightful prospect.

I am working on some of my older teas and I found this sample package from December that I haven’t even tried. I don’t know why I have put it off for so long as this tea is not bad. It is not something I will be stocking either but I doubt I will struggle getting through the sample. It definitely has the warming fall flavours of pumpkin pie but nothing is particularly distinctive – it is like a slightly spiced black tea with subtle notes of chocolate every now and again. Not bad. Not great. Drinkable.

drank Walnut Truffle by Tea Desire

I actually really like this one. I don’t know why but so many times when I brew this, I expect the black base to be overpowering and so with each cup, I am shocked by just how much this tastes like just like a walnut truffle. Seriously. It has a rich chocolate truffle flavor with a beautiful full-bodied walnut taste to compliment it. Delicious! Thank you Roswell Strange for helping me stock up!

This was pretty awesome cold brewed :)

I will have to try that.

I thought belgium chocolate matcha would go great with coconut almond milk. Apparently, I was wrong. There is just something…not right in this mix :(. I guess I will stick to having this with peanut butter and banana in a smoothie.

drank Honey Rooibos by Ceylon Tea Bush

Cold brewed this for 4 hours and I think I prefer it hot. The aftertaste is 100% sweet honey but leading up to that point it is a whole lot of rooibos. Good, but not as good as when brewed properly.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
