drank Earl Grey by Joy's Teaspoon

Sampling this one again… and I’m amazed at how good it is! Not bitter, not too astringent this time, with a warm, almost spiced flavor at the end. It’s different from the Tavalon EG I had yesterday; they’re both smooth and well, blended, but they have different flavor profiles. Tavalon was bright and very citrusy, whereas this one is warm and more floral (though still with distinct bergamot-fruit notes). I have just about enough of the sample to make another cup for an Earl Grey side-by-side comparison with a bunch of EGs from different companies. I think this one will come out as one that I’d like to have a stock of, though!

backlogging and LOVING it!

Thanks ashmanra for sending me some of this to try! It sounded sooooo good in everyone’s reviews, and it is from one of my favorite regions!

The first thing that came to mind was how it’s more sweet and subtle than Hao Ya A, but still packs a punch. Very rich. More like a languorous richness vs. Hao Ya A’s laserbeam POW! I wouldn’t call it smoky…it’s less smoky than the lightly smoky Queen Catherine. It’s more roasty but it has this – not lemony but this very sweet fruity highlight at the end of the sip? Really, really good. I would purchase this in LESS than a heartbeat! :) I’m CRAZY for it!

Many, many, many, many thanks ONCE AGAIN to ashmanra, who has introduced me to SO MANY of my favorite teas!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo Rat Lunch 4ever!!!!!

drank Monk's Blend by Sawadee Tea House
13 tasting notes

I quite enjoy this tea, the first time I had it sort of tasted like a light black tea with some hints of fruit. (can’t quite pick out what exactly) When I asked about the tea I was informed that it is one of the favorite for Nova Scotians and that it sort of has a "grassy or floral taste to it ". To be honest I did not get that at all, I did like it enough to buy a tin of it though.

It is a great any time of the day tea, having it the second time during my getting ready for work morning routine I had a little bit of a floral taste but it was only a small hint of floral. I would reccomend this to anyone for a tea.

drank La La Lemon (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA
13 tasting notes

The first time I drank was a couple of weeks ago and I way over steeped it. It tasted good just too strong. The second time I steeped it just right and it was delicious! I took this one to work for my lemon tea and everytime I make it at work it is too bitter. The first time was almost undrinkable, the second time slightly less bitter and the third time just alittle bitter. I think my work kettle makes the water hotter than my home kettle because I stop them at what seems to be the same time frame but my work one makes it bitter. I just keep stopping the kettle earlier and earlier until I get it just right.

Honestly I can not wait for summer to come so I can ice it, I am told it taste just like Lipton Ice Tea which I love!

drank Wild Black Yunnan by DAVIDsTEA

A full-flavored, all-round balanced tea that went well for me in the morning and something I would happily drink in the afternoon. It could work well both as a sipper and as something you’d sit down to appreciate for flavor.

There is definitely a touch of honey in smelling the cup but I could also smell hoppy notes. It tastes pleasantly bitter which translates into smooth coating bitterness in aftertaste. Again I can’t help but compare it with good ale aftertaste and hoppy lager coated glass smell. I haven’t noticed any mentioned smokiness or sweetness but there is definitely “this is what black tea should taste like” aspect to it.

In gaiwan it resteepeed graciously for about 5 times, after that keeping the color, flavor starts to diminish which I found perfect for washing off the strong taste of this tea from previous infusions. Interestingly enough the pleasant aftertaste stays for a long time. Overall I did about 10 infusions and latter ones were interesting on it’s own. Overall lightness of those brings out notes very well.

I made note to self that first infusions need to be kept to a short time in order to avoid overpowering bitterness and to appreciate delicate balance of flavor of this tea.

drank Honey Green Almond by T2
12 tasting notes

My attraction to honeybush and rooibos teas has been growing steadily since I first began drinking them, and I particularly enjoy them in the evening, as they are caffeine free and therefore won’t keep me awake. Initially, when I was considering purchasing Honey Green Almond, a friend told me that he thought its odour was like that of B.O., not the nicest of scents. However, I disagreed and went ahead and bought it. Indeed, my judgement did prove to be the greater, and I can often be found of an evening curled up in my den with a mug of this delightful tea.

This is probably too old or something – though it shouldn´t and the tea bags are sealed hermetically in a nice sealed packaging. But while it smells very nice (caramel though not really dulce de leche and red fruits) it tastes like nothing. Trying to rescue it thought to add milk. Bad bad idea, by some weird chemistry it now tastes almost dusty, slightly smoky but in a cigarette way, not a pine lapsang souchong.

Considering tossing this.

I haven’t had this since last year? What?? I guess I have a lot of mint teas and spearmint is the one that lives at work anyway. This is really yummy, not as in your face as my Sawadee peppermint, but really yummy with a true peppermint flavour. I love mint!

Delicious! I had a lovely black tea flavour with a hint of peach and a slightly stronger note of apricot. It was really quite yummy and not at all bitter.

well, this is the scraping of the barrel, the last lost little broken dusty bits at the end of the tin. So this tasting might not be too fair, because of that and because the tin was bought a couple years ago.

It is lovely. I think by now the caramel overtone is topmost note, though I can also catch some vanilla and some chocolate. It tastes almost almondy to me as well.

Very very good, though I will probably take a break from it right now and buy instead maybe Thé sur le Nil. In Autumn I will reconsider buying – maybe this is a season prejudice of mine, but Wedding Imperial is in my mind, a very winter-ish type of tea.

drank Neapolitan Honeybush by 52teas
1908 tasting notes

I opened the little sample pouch of this tea I got as part of the Valentine’s Swee-tea exchange (thanks AmazonV!). At least I think this tea is what the ‘Neapalitain’ lable is refering to… ⌐_⌐

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love how Frank uses real flavouring that you can see right in the tea. I’m finding big cocoa nibs, pieces of vanilla bean, and bits of dried strawberry all mixed in with the honeybush – it’s great. The result does smell very much like Neapolitan ice cream which makes me a feel a bit nostalgic as I haven’t had that particular type of ice cream in years but it was a pretty common treat at my house when I was a kid.

The flavour doesn’t quite get there in terms of authenticity, although it certainly makes a game effort. The chocolate flavour seems to dominate everything else to some extent and I wish the strawberry in particular made up more of the flavour profile. Despite that, I’d still count this as another awesome blend from 52Teas. :)

That means it’s DEFINITELY Neapolitan flavour then! : ) I always liked the strrawberry the best but found there was way too much chocolate in there. I like the Chapmans square ones where you can just slice off some strawberry and leave the chocolate for all the others.

Southern Boy Teas

‘Neapalitain’ I’m so embarrassed. I had some temps helping me get these out and I think they messed up more things than they did right.

This is pretty good, despite the hibiscus in it. I added some sugar to it to offset the tartness of the hibiscus and it makes for a sweet yet tasty cup. I like the creaminess of the vanilla together with the strawberry taste.

It’s a nice cup, not my favorite from Talbott Teas but not terrible either.

Ah! This is my favorite lychee tea! I’ll be making a larger purchase in the future for sure! I was a little hesitant to use up the leaves, but I managed to get several steeps from it! :)
