It’s a nice standard oolong. Nice brown, dark aroma, decent flavor, and it provides a goodly number of resteeps. It’s my current go-to-tea for work days.

First time in my life drinking tea with milk. Actually not bad and less weird that i have imagined. Goes well with pure black tea. I don’t know if i hit the right combo. Needs more experimenting. But i wont mind doing that ;)

drank Creamy Caramel Oolong by Tealish

First try at this one… Not much to say other than I was struggling to finish the first cup. I don’t know why, but it looks like I’m not turning into a fan of these “flavoured” teas with random bits of things that sound delicious, but in actuality aren’t meant to be in tea…

Too strong of a sweet taste for my liking, and the aroma was almost a turn off right from the start. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to continue trying this one since I have a whole packet of it so I may revisit the review of it later, as usual.

Also, for the record, I usually love anything with the word “caramel” in it.

Have you tried Botanical Indulgence’s Creme Caramel Oolong? It’s ahhhmazing!

Raffi

Hmm, no I haven’t… But unfortunately it looks like their location and method for ordering teas seems not so international friendly. I’m sure I’ll find a decent caramel-ish tea in due time.

A friend of mine recieved a box of this tea as a Valentine’s Day gift, and she gave me a couple of bags to try it. It’s very nice. not really strong in the flavor department, but still tasty. I added milk and sugar, and it turned out nice and creamy. I’ll have to find myself a box.

drank Almond by Adagio Teas
23 tasting notes

I think I liked this more than the average person does. However, I did add milk and a bit of sugar before even tasting the tea plain (I was in the mood for milky tea this morning and nothing was going to stop me). The almond flavor is definitely there, but it’s subtle enough to be a morning tea rather than a dessert tea. I’ll have to try it plain though, but from what I’m reading I think it definitely benefits from milk and sugar.

Erin

Was this the almond that I sent? If so, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I never added milk and sugar, so maybe that’s why you like it more than I did.

Samantha

It is! Thank you so much, I really like it. I might buy some. If I buy someone I’ll send you a bit so you can try it with milk and sugar :)

Samantha

“if I buy someone”…….human tea trafficking?

drank Sencha by Teavana
240 tasting notes

I feel a little bad comparing Teavana’s sencha to vacuum-sealed, air-freighted, direct-from-Japan examples, but it’s hard not too. Once you’ve put your lips to that buttery, silken, kelpy, fishy delight, it makes more wholesale Japanese teas seem stale, weak, and poorly processed. Such is the case, with this one, I suppose. It came across as flat, a touch old and dusty right out of the bag.

I was feeling a little moody this morning when I selected this tea, so I thought I would have it with milk and sugar… which I don’t typically do with Darjeelings but I was feeling the need and I had given it to the husband that way once (when I was too sleepy to realize that I had grabbed Darjeeling and not his breakfast tea) and he enjoyed it so I figured it couldn’t be too bad.

It wasn’t. It was actually pretty good. Insanely nutty. Nuttier than I’ve ever noticed when having it straight. Perhaps because the half and half toned down the astringency, which I could feel poking out even with the not insubstantial amount of additives I put in. It wasn’t quite sweet enough to be a pecan nutty but it was a much stronger nutty taste than a walnut and after that I’ve pretty much exhausted my nut knowledge so I’m stuck with just ‘very nutty’. There was still some tartness to it – not really bitter but a tart, astringent, mouth-coating something – even with the milk and sugar, so I’m actually really happy with it.

I have enough tea for one, maybe two more mornings and I’m pretty sure I’ll be adding milk and sugar to it those remaining days.

Not bad…a little light strength-wise for the morning…but soothing…

I’m trying to like this tea…
theoretically I like everything in it but something about the way the raisin works with the tea is just hitting me really wrong and making my face go into sweet tart position…
I’ll keep trying until I can take it anymore but I don’t think I like this one at all… It tastes like a worse version of vanilla date to me.

Plain without sugar, the tea is not as tart as I expected. Still peachy tasting with a jasmine aroma, but I could taste the green tea more than my previous attempt.

drank China Breakfast by Rishi Tea
1112 tasting notes

Another Traveling Tea Box Tea!!!

Delicious! I taste a molasses-y raisin-y darkly sweet flavor. It’s full bodied enough to drink with food – it is getting along rather famously with my bagel and cream cheese! Excellent with half and half and sugar.

I also have to say that I’ve been reducing my coffee intake and replacing it with black tea, and I LOVE the calm focused energy I feel (rather than the scattered energy I feel after what I’m finding is Too Much Coffee for my system (errr…approx 24 oz – all within the first half hour of waking). I love coffee and plan to keep drinking it, just Not As Much!

I really need to stop discovering so many amazing teas!!! I think April’s tea budget is going straight to Rishi :) I love their whites, greens and their rooibos too!

I really love this tea. I’ve been out of it for quite some time now and I miss it! I will hopefully be ordering more soon. I think it’s a little bitter without milk and sugar…but man oh man is it good.

drank Bengal Breakfast by Teatulia Teas
22 tasting notes

It’s a beautiful tea with long leaves that you can watch unfurl as you tumble boiling water into your glass. The tea is a wonderful amber-orange color, with a very smooth and clean taste. The recommended brew time is two minutes, but I left the teabag inside while I enjoyed my cup. I normally find this makes black tea too bitter but Bengal Breakfast is simultaneously bold and mild and there is the slightest hint of silky sweetness in the aftertaste. I have been looking for a good AM tea and whereas Teatulia’s Neem Nectar was a little too sharp for me, Bengal Breakfast is perfect.

When I opened the tin to this tea I couldn’t quite place what it was I was smelling but it definitely was the most powerful, in aroma, white tea I’ve come across so far. I’ve recently received my Perfect Steeper from EightCranes.com and my electric teapot from Adagio, so I was eager to try it. I was surprised how the aroma subdued only a little and the taste had what one drinker described as buttery. The first three sips I wasn’t sure but once I added a little of Splenda, I can say I like it. No it’s not at the top but it’s a little bit above average.

I’d decided to use the Perfect Steeper’s steeping time where white teas are steeped for 1-2 mins and it came out great. This will definitely be a regular :)

drank Roastaroma by Celestial Seasonings

Stressful days so far this week, and more ahead; woke up with heart beating fast as a hamster (I seem to have a rodent thing going this week) and concluded more caffeine probably wasn’t smart. This at least gives the strong taste illusion of something with a kick. More dark than spicy. It’ll do since I’m, unfortunately, in gulp-and-go mode instead of sip-and-savor.
