New Tasting Notes
Today I noticed the French on the packaging actually reads that it has “a suspicion [un soupçon] of fresh apricots and vanilla from Tahiti,” and that is exactly how I would describe my experience with this tea: I suspect that there are fresh apricots, because I think I can smell them, but I have no evidence based on the taste. It always seemed to brew weak, so finally I tried it with two teabags, and it’s just a weak tea that basically tastes like fruit water. I’ll probably stick it in the back of the cabinet and also just try it again when it gets warm as an iced tea.
woo-hoo, just got back from Grocery Outlet where they’d gotten four, new, high-end bagged teas for $1.99 each! The first one I’m trying is Woman’s Dong Quai Tonic by Yogi Tea, which is pretty nice! It smells wonderful, and I taste the anise (which I love to add to loose tea mixtures), as well as the cinnamon bark, and a little ginger or pepper because it’s a little spicy. I added it to the system as a new tea with the name listed on its current packaging, though it’s also listed on Steepster with what looks like older packaging as menstrual tea, however, my victorian inclinations prevent comment on that. Anyway, shout out to Grocery Outlet!
This is a berry-flavored rooibos with a nice flavor, though I’m having trouble placing the flavor of berry. It might be strawberry…or a blend. Unfortunately, I taste a hint of cough syrup in the cup :( I find all Tea Forte blends a little on the strong side, so maybe that’s it.
Preparation
Not only does this tea taste great, but it is great for its original purpose, staying up for long periods of religious meditation. I often stay up for hours just sitting and thinking, and this tea makes you feel awake, but not jittery or how caffeine makes you feel. Regardless, this tea is a great blend of sweet and savory (i especially like the hints of vanilla). I highly recommend this to all fans of traditional teas.

Preparation
Tasted better before I added sugar, next time I will have plain which is nice and easy! Good for when I feel like something stronger in flavor than Lady Grey.
Very disappointed with this one. Earl Grey is my favorite tea closely followed by rooibos but I found that this particular mix is not at all the dream combination I was hoping for. The rooibos flavor is very strong and bitter and earl grey (bergamot) is very faint. They just don’t harmonize well with each other.
Ginger easily gets 100% rating from me as this is one ingredient that is readily available raw no matter which corner of the world you go. It has innumerable health benefits and makes a lovely brew either on its own or as an additive to many other teas, herbs and ingredients.
I also frequently add a bit of ginger when brewing some other tea for the second time. Where by itself it might have been weak, coupled with ginger it always produces a new and interesting taste.
