484 Tasting Notes
I’ve only had a couple of Puerh teas, so I’m still getting a feel for them. This is smooth and earthy with a mineral flavor, and a slight sweetness. It makes me think of the polished stones you sometimes see in museum gift shops for rock collections. It’s interesting, but I think I’d rather drink a good black. I have a bunch of samples from the Puerh Beginner’s box that I want to try to see if I’m interested in exploring this type of tea further. I brewed this western style since that’s what the direction on the package were for.
Flavors: Earth, Mineral, Smooth, Sweet
Preparation
I made this as a latte, since that’s how I always drink Earl Grey. It tastes like the balance of flavors is wrong. I can’t really taste the black tea at all, and the bergamot is overwhelming and tastes a bit odd. Too perfumey maybe? I do like my earl grey on the floral end, so maybe that’s not the best description, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Preparation
I don’t care for this one. The blueberry is not strong, but still tastes artificial with a slight chemical aftertaste, and the black tea is bland with a hint of bitterness.
Flavors: Artificial, Bitter, Blueberry
Preparation
From a swap with Zennen. Thank you!
This reminds me a bit of lemongrass and the other lemony herbs, but it’s not quite the same. The lemon is a bit brighter and sweeter, and the herbaceous taste is soft – not at all grassy. It’s my favorite so far of the lemony herbs, but it’s still not a flavor profile I particularly care for.
Flavors: Herbaceous, Lemon, Sweet
Preparation
This is okay, but not great. It definitely tastes like orange and spice, but the spice isn’t very strong, and the orange is a bit bitter from the orange peel and a bit sour from the hibiscus and lime peel. It’s just not quite what I want from an orange spice tea, though it’s definitely drinkable..
Flavors: Cinnamon, Hibiscus, Orange, Sour, Spices
Preparation
This mostly tastes leathery and smokey to me. I like this better than the other leathery or smokey teas I’ve tried and I’m not sure why. It doesn’t taste bitter or astringent at all, which is good. It’s very smooth, and actually reminds me a bit of beef jerky. Maybe that’s why I’m enjoying it. Maybe I’ll try another cup with chili powder and black pepper. I don’t taste any nuttiness at all, but I don’t really know what chestnuts taste like, so I don’t know what I should be looking for.
Flavors: Leather, Smoke, Smooth
