stay up until 2am reading fic = cheesecake matcha for breakfast
everybody knows that.
thank you CHAroma!! this was cursing good!!

(i wonder how much longer i’ll be able to hold off ordering some matcha for myself)

I aspire to order this matcha flavour one day.

I aspire to know what to do with matcha period.

Nxtdoor, i started by requesting a few different matchas in swaps. just to test the waters. and i still haven’t ventured outside of the almond milk latte haha, but just having the three samples i’ve had so far has been a great way to get started. i have lost all hesitation about buying myself some matcha.

Do I need the whisk and everything?

Nxtdoor – if you want to do it properly you do, but I’ve had plenty of people tell me that you can add a bit of hot water to 1 scoop of matcha, and use a fork to whisk it up/break the clumps up. Then you can either add 5oz of hot water, or 5oz of cold milk! When I drink it with milk, I add ice, and shake it right up. When I do it hot, I use my milk frother to try and bubble it up. I still feel like I’m doing it wrong though! Ha. But I was lucky enough to get a few samples to play with from other people!

Yah, I have a frother. I need a neutral non dairy substitute. Or maybe if the matcha is strong enough it masks the milk taste. I do enjoy the Starbucks frappuccino, all flavours, really. I know there’s milk in them but they don’t taste like milk. Anyway, were getting off topic. Thanks for the tips!

just to give you an example of my lazy way (so you can feel confident your method is better than mine hah)
first i put the matcha in a bowl and then add just enough boiling hot water to liquefy it all. making a dense soup or a thin paste type thing. because it is just a little water it’s easy to break up any clumps in the process. then i add a cup of microwaved hot almond milk and a small amount of agave. and stir well. that’s all. it’s probably not ideal. but it’s been very delicious so far.
i also sometimes put it in a jar to shake it hard and blend it. but i don’t have a frother. :)

That sounds great. Everyone uses almond milk (it seems), but I’ve never tried it!

Note to self: buy almond milk. I am excited. Will buy matcha as soon as I enter my next “tea budget period”

Lots of people do seem to love matcha lattes, but I prefer my matcha with 175 degree water. Mmmm! All this talk of matcha is making me want some! I think it’s tea time! (FYI, milk frothers work GREAT to whisk matcha. No clumps! No grit!)

@Shmiracles, Yay! So glad you liked it! This one is amazing. :)

certainly misty!
it’s so light, am i even holding this cup of tea? i think it’s floating away! wafting on the wind!
if i get too excited i may accidentally crush it’s wispy thin cup!
it’s such a delicate flavor that i needed to drink it with a fresh morning palate to really grasp the details.
a vegan pub here has bbq jackfruit sandwiches on the menu often. it’s mostly used because the texture is interestingly meaty for a fruit. its fruit is the largest tree-borne fruit that exists i think. basically it’s tropical and weird. maybe it’s like a really bland pineapple? not really. nevermind.
point is this tea is very subtle but definitely breezy and mangoey and barely even has that greenness. no dryness. no bitter notes. barely any even grassy notes. i’m feeling enthusiastic about this tea.
it’s like holding a baby kitten.
thank you moraiwe for this orchid of a tea.

this is certainly a blackberry tea. it’s tea first but definitely still blackberries.

I know moraiwe likes this tea iced, and MAYBE i’ll try that, but i’m not really an iced person.

i will say that i drank this tea yesterday and today both and it went down easily, and the scent lingered for a noticable while, and i liked it, but still found it hard to write about i guess.

thanks for the sample!

I second this one iced!

i got a small sample bag of this so i could keep tinkering with my personal sherlock blend. but i put one scoop aside so i could try it straight.
not the best lapsang i’ve had. but still smokey and sweet all at once. not bad not bad at all. just a little flat in comparison to the possibilities. but i wouldn’t be surprised if i ordered the sample size of this the next time i place an order.

Have you tried Baker Street Afternoon Blend from Upton? It is really good. It isn’t a straight Lapsang, though.

i have and i love it! i have one scoop of tea left and i think i’m saving it. or hoarding it. for a special occasion? lapsang blends are very enjoyable. i should buy more lapsangs from upton too. definitely.

Our tin is quite empty. I am trying to sip down a whole lot of tea before ordering more, but that will be one of the first.

This was the first LS I’ve tried (well, aside from what I now know to be LS in the Teakoe Fireside Chai). Smoke is one of my favorite flavors so I’m in love, but interested to know that in the world of LS Adagio’s isn’t one one of the best. I’m so excited to explore more!

i love apple teas. i didn’t know i loved apple teas, but one day i looked down at my tea drawer and realized i had a lot of them. all different and similar at the same time. apple this apple that apple apple apple.
it has a nice fresh apple smell in the cup. and the apple flavor is mild. i can definitely detect caramel notes, but it doesn’t taste caramel flavored per se. this is a good thing! it really is a apple tea, not an apple flavored tea. if you catch my drift.

Scheherazade!! thank you for making my monday a little brighter.

Did I have this on my list? I’m not sure how I missed this one, but if you have some left, or other apple teas I missed, I’d love to try them, since I love apple teas too.

okay Heather! i’ll include what i can. :)

i have a box of over 100 swap samples now and this morning i dug around in it in the dark until i had a few in my hand that seemed varied. i threw them in my purse and went to work.
this is my first taste from my swap with KallieBoo!
i immediately felt really lucky to have my random pick in the dark to be such a tasty tea! my cup was empty very quickly. i am NOT a gal to turn down hazelnut or vanilla in a tea. and hellyeah this one has both.

i have had a twitch in my right eye for almost 24 hrs now.

this vanilla caramel chocolate tea is super easy to drink. like it was gone within minutes of cooling.

My left eye twitches if I don’t get enough sleep.

ya i probably am dehydrated and definitely don’t get enough sleep. sigh.

i ran a 50k race on saturday. my legs are still very sore. especially my right leg.
i’m just saying, that’s why i haven’t commented much. sometimes i read your discussions and want to get involved, but i’m just kinda too busy to take a break.
i’m gonna have to start focusing on training more too. which means i won’t really be able to use steepster as much as i want to. which is a bummer.
did i mention that i have 100 tea samples to try?!?!
2 more swaps came in the mail over the past few days.
whew that’s a lot of yummy.

i love lapsang. and carytown teas has consistently great teas.

Congrats on the 50K! That’s far!!

Woohoo! Congratulations on the run!

I’m just gonna throw it out there – 50k, that’s ridiculous! Congrats!

That’s a ridiculous amount of running. I can’t even walk properly these days, even short distances, because of the tendons on my ankles, so props.

Wow, 50k! I’m so envious! I hope the race was enjoyable for you :D

I badly need to get back into running, for the exercise and stress relief. A half-marathon is still on my goal list for 2013… totally doable if I actually manage to start training in the near future :)

thanks for the encouragement guys! i’m so fond of my steepster friends that it means a lot a lot.
i’m also currently obsessing about signing up for a few more races before the season is up and they all sell out . it’s definitely all about the stress relief for me. and being in the woods. that is the best.

ohfancythat (whatshesaid)

Wow, you’re amazing dude! I try to run 5 minutes and get tired, haha. Not a runner, clearly. 50k is astounding, you must be proud of yourself :)

so my sister has a new fandom and it is Teen Wolf.
i have a new fandom or two and they are not Teen Wolf.
she has good taste so i full expect to read a great fic she shares with me one day and then adopt the fandom too. but until that time, i will just drink her tea!

she ordered the sample collection box on my recommendation and we are both glad she did.

this one is low caffeine and pretty yummy. the price of sharing this tea with my sister was watching the swimming pool episode. totally fine by me. :)
