773 Tasting Notes
“do you buy root beer and leave it opened on the dashboard of your car all day before enjoying it? well if you like your root beer flat and warm, then this is the tea for you!!”
damn i can’t remember where i saw it, but i read a review once of a root beer tea that enthusiastically read like that. and i STILL laugh at the joke today. it made an impression.
this is a tea i tasted 3 months ago and never made a note about.
i do remember finding it strange while not hating it.
but it did taste strange enough to procrastinate drinking it again. and it made my cup very dirty with lots of floaties. so clean-up was even more reason to procrastinate. and then i eventually did try it again, and again didn’t hate it.
so. ya. root beer float. didn’t hate it.
i went to davidstea in chicago, bought an ounce of this, and then went back 5 hours later and bought 2 more ounces for my sister. it’s a tea that calls out her name. and she’s the one i owe my enjoyment of tea to (well, her and british television) so i LOVE sharing all of my tea with her and giving her tiny tea gifts.
ya know, i came to log this tea, and then i IMMEDIATELY got side tracked by TheTeaFairy’s post about it
so that probably means we should just go read that instead.
besides, my nose is too congested right now to properly enjoy this tea. sad sad.
(it’s just that i have tiny scarred sinuses, it’s not a cold or anything, don’t worry.)
(i hate to think on how my sinus effect my enjoyment of tea. i’ll go irrigate i guess.)
since i found this small glass gongfu pot, i am now so excited to drink small 8oz cups of everything. one at a time. EVERYTHING i tell you!!!!
it’s the weekend. a great time to run long distances, fetishize my tea, and watch vintage sherlock.
first pouch of the ‘12 days of tea’!
but, um… i peeked!
at ALL of them!!
i did it i confess. i got the box weeks ago and immediately sat on the floor of my bedroom and opened all 12 pouches and then smelled them and then put the labels on the outside of the pouches and then tasted a few and then texted my sister about them and then took some pictures of them and then folded and clipped each little pouch closed before i organized them according to date.
(i think i steeped it too long, should have maybe stayed with the 3 min steep. i seem to remember my previous cup being lighter and sweeter in tone.)
i drank this one ages ago and never reviewed it. i’m just not that in to the fruity herbal teas i guess. even if it’s scorching hot out and the ice cubes are tumbling.
i made a mason jar of this cold brewed a few weeks ago and it just sat in the fridge for a month until i decided i should just throw it out. I KNOW SO SAD! i’m sorry to all of you goji pop lovers out there for this horrible travesty. i’ll try again with more vigor soon.
why does steepster go wonky and dead around 3p everyday? i mean, i’m not REALLY complaining, i’m just kinda curious.
i have a Hario gongfu teapot that i’ve really wanted to use so i decided to try it now even though this tea isn’t really gongfu material i don’t think. maybe i’ll get one of those little over the cup strainers and then use the gongfu whenever i want. :)
i smelled the tea, and was like ‘this seems nice, why didn’t i buy more of this one?‘…aaaaand then i tasted it. and it’s a hibiscus tea. and we all know the blah blah about hibiscus teas. so i’ll just spare us all and say it’s pretty. and nice enough. and i won’t buy more. and i’ll give my sister the rest of my sample. with love xox
