drank Earl Grey Cream by Zen Tea
3005 tasting notes

It’s a sad day for tea when my favorite EGC is no longer the same. I received some of the new batch recently. This is an entirely different EGC in my opinion. (Zen is telling me the supplier changed it on them.) Less of that amazing cream (if any) and definitely a different bergamot – and not one I particularly want to drink. It’s probably okay for an EG but not the magic it was before! Sad stuff.

This is my favorite. I am fighting back tears

Aw, I’m sorry to bring the bad news, TeaTiff! I have no idea who sells my favorite EG now… all of the EGs I loved, the shops that sold them are closed now.

TeaTiff

David’s was actually fairly similar when I had it prior to Zen. Also the EGC from Zhi Tea is fairly similar… not the same but it is soft and creamy.

Oh thanks! Teajo’s EG was really good when I tried it years ago, but that one doesn’t have cream. The Tea Merchant was also good, but it looks like they are gone and there is a new shop called The Tea Merchant.

Heartbroken.

I contacted Zen Tea yesterday b/c I noticed their EGC was listed as out of stock. It sounds like they are “fixing” the difference in the EGC and will have the original back in stock in 2 weeks or so.

Very good news indeed. I ordered a batch of it during the Black Friday sales, so I am assuming that it is the new batch. I did not have a chance to try the original batch if this is not it. That said, this one is pretty darn fantastic.

So good to know that they come back to better stuffs. Loves that tea really much!

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer.) :D

Happy sipping!
