From 52teas

This was a suggestion from one of our customers, and I spent an hour digging through my email folders and searching our facebook page, but I couldn’t find the original suggestion anywhere, so I couldn’t put his or her name on the blend.

Anyway, when I first got the suggestion, I realized I was going to have to MAKE some Zabaglione to try, because not only had I not tried it before, but I had never HEARD of it before. Well after trying it (for those of you who never have, I would say it is something like a custardy (flavor, not texture) whipped cream with a hint of wine. After trying it, I was not at all sure that we would be able to make a tea that hinted of the complexity of Zabaglione, but after some trial and error, we now have…

Love, love, love this tea!

It’s got an initial taste of strawberries then is rounded out by a creamy sweet goodness (custardy?). I can also taste the black tea on the side…it’s a nice balance. I love custards and creams and all I can say “MMMMM…”. Although I wish all black teas used in blends were assam, whatever this one was works beautifully.

Thanks for the sample Starfevre! I used the rest of the sample this morning (the other I used yesterday…it was just too good not to have again, lol!) It prompted me to buy the last bag on Frank’s website that’s been available for the last week (although I debated for awhile if I really needed to spend more money, haha). I also appreciated the steeping reccomendations…I may try that on my other 52teas to see if it makes them taste better. Yummy Yummy!

Dry notes : smells very fruity:)

I think I had my expectations set way high for this tea by all the great reviews. I suppose I was bound to be a little disappointed. This tea is just ok for me. I taste a black tea with strawberry (a la Frankenberry). I’m not getting vanilla or creamy custard. I’ll finish off the sample, but it’s not something I plan to order again.

I was hoping this would taste the same as the SBT version and it does. I get the custard and strawberries, but no wine like it says in the description, but that’s ok, I wasn’t expecting or even wanting this tea to taste like wine. I think I might prefer this iced, but it is still very delicious hot!

This was my morning cup today, and my first sips were definitely of strawberry notes. I found though that I had to add sugar to make it more to my tastes. The black tea dominates here, and is one that is less to my taste than most. I don’t dislike the tea, but wish that the base had been different or less noticeable.

This is definitely up there on the “best teas” list, and while I’m still new to tea in general (about a year now of tea tasting beyond the bagged stuff I had as a kid) I think strawberry is one of those flavors that everybody loves, but sometimes it can be disappointing. This tea certainly does not disappoint. The actual pieces of strawberry in the tea give it such a wonderful fruity flavor, and with some cream and sugar it’s almost like I’ve made strawberry shortcake in a cup. Sometimes it reminds me a bit of the creamy instant strawberry oatmeal but less overpowering. It’s definitely a great breakfast tea to have alongside toast or corn flakes, but it’s also great on its own. I’ve also tried it iced and found that it makes a nice refreshing afternoon iced tea latte as well (I add more milk to my iced teas). Fabulous tea, highly recommended.

This is like Marco Polo’s twin! I love this tea. It has a wonderful creaminess. And I LOVE strawberry teas, they make me so happy. I read how others said they thought the tea came out a little too bitter, so I brewed with water just under boiling. It’s an excellent blend, not just strawberry, but with so many background flavors.

I made zabaglione in school, and this pretty much captures the essence of it. A little more wine would be lovely. I still will chug this tea.

Gorgeous smelling tea! Very fresh strawberry aroma; good, strong, fresh strawberry flavor, too, although more a medium strength tea. Wish it were a bit stronger, would hold up better with milk. (And I would need to add milk, otherwise any accidental oversteeping would cause a bit of a bitter aftertaste for this tea.)

I wasn’t quite sure how to prepare this. I used one heaping teaspoon with 8oz of boiling water and let sit for 3 mins 30 sec. At first I got a very strong black tea taste. As it cooled I got a bit of the sweet berry and creamy taste I would expect due to the name. The strawberry wasn’t as strong as I would have expected. This tea was okay for me. I will have no problems finishing the sample, but would probably not purchase again.

A pleasant tea. The dry leaves had a lovely strong strawberry-and-something-else smell, but when steeped, I couldn’t really get a whole lot of flavour – a titch of strawberry and a pleasant sweet dessertyness. Thanks to Starfevre for this one.

I steeped it as per instructions, 185F at 3 minutes, a tiny bit more than 1 tsp per 8 oz. Next time, I’ll try it at 175 for 2 minutes, and see if the flavour is stronger.
I added sugar and skim milk.

This tea was pretty good. Not great. This may turn out to be a good iced tea when it get warmer. Otherwise decent flavor
