Sipdown? What?!

I almost never drink honeybush (or any caffeine free tisanes) anymore, so it’s been a long while since I’ve had this. Even though I love it.

Steeped: 10 minutes, 3.5 tsp. tsp 500 ml. water with some milk and sugar added. Below parameters.

Yeah, still do love it. Tonight I get almost a graham cracker type crust with the toasted coconut on top. The milk accentuates the creamy tang of the cheesecake, and though sometimes honeybush can have a thin texture that’s really not happening here.

It will be missed, but not replaced any time soon as I’m really wanting to try newer teas instead of stick with old favorites at the moment.

Sipdown!! (153)

Coconut is the prominent flavor in this blend and though I am not tasting what I would call cheesecake, there is another component to this tea that is making for a thicker and more rounded dessert type flavor. I suppose I will just have to keep sipping until I figure it out. Hmm…

This is one of my daughter’s favorite teas of all time. I used to make it for her every morning before beauty college.

Aww that is quite adorable. I wish my mom made me tea each morning. However, I suppose it would be quite the effort for her to do that since we live in different problems. Also, I don’t think she would have any idea how to brew me a cup of tea. So perhaps I don’t wish for that. haha. Although I think it is pretty awesome your daughter had an awesome mom to do that for her.

Brewed this up last night; didn’t care for it hot, let it cool and forgot about it. So trying it today! Probably not a good idea… meh. It’s the only cold tea upstairs and I’m thirsty !

I really can’t say that I’m getting Coconut Cheesecake… at all. I’m getting honeybush, rooibos, and maaaaayyybe some coconut? Well, at least at the end of the sip.

Blegh, this is not my favourite… at all. I’ll try it again fresh, but I didn’t much like it yesterday either. Sigh. At least I absolutely adore Malted ChocoMate…

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

This is one of my my favorite roobios blends. Some days I can’t get enough of it. :)

I really feel like I did something wrong. How do you brew it? Time/temp/tea:water ratio?

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

For me a touch over 6oz water, 208°F, a heaping teaspoon, and 6mins to steep. I hope you have better luck :)

Thanks! Will try again soon :)

3rd 52teas blend of the day! I’m getting sleepy, had an excellent dinner out with the guy, but soo much food, so I’m sleepy haha, but I had to log this. This tea is so good. Creamy coconut with the cheesecake tang. Rich yet not too heavy. So good. I’d probably get more of this. Rating 87 for now.

I’ve had this one for a while, but I’m just getting around to logging it now. I never realized how picky I am with flavors until I started here on Steepster. I frequently find myself typing “I don’t really care for (insert flavor), but I ordered this anyway”. The thing is, in the past I’ve been pleasantly surprised (particularly with 52teas) for making teas I enjoy in flavors that I don’t typically enjoy.

Coconut is yet another flavor that I don’t care for, but since it is a honeybush I decided to give it a try – I’m always looking for new bedtime teas. Sadly, this one is truly not for me. Considering I don’t care for coconut flavors it’s still pretty good, it’s just not one that I’d reorder, there are just too many more suitable options available to me. If you like coconut, then this would be a nice honeybush for you. The flavor of the honeybush and coconut are nicely balanced, particularly when it cools, there’s a creaminess to the aftertaste that lends itself to the cheesecake flavor, or even coconut cream pie.

This smells so good. The smell of coconut and honeybush together is quite delicious. But as good as it smells it tastes even better. YUMYUMYUMYUMYUM!

Sweet, coconut-y, creamy deliciousness. As it is still rather hot, I don’t taste as much of the cheesecake flavor, but, I hope that flavor will pop as it cools… Yes… as it is cooling, I can taste more of the tangy cheesecake – SO YUMMY!

You are right. The background flavor is tangy. I couldn’t think of how to describe it.

I’ve so glad I caved and ordered a bag before it ran out – again. :D

Wahhhh I had been hoarding the rest of the small amount of this tea from the 12 Teas of Christmas box, but I went into my caffeine free box and decided I’d drink the first thing I pulled as long as it was new or gone in a cup. And this was it.

Of course, it’s not like I can’t buy more of it, just not right now.

I would have preferred to have at least another half teaspoon for this cup, so it’s kind of light even after a 10 minute steep.

Letting it cool is helping too, first it was just a little coconut flavored. Now it’s come out more and I’m getting cheesecake again. It’s so sweet, smooth, and creamy. Earlier I had a frozen cheesecake bar from Trader Joe’s, it had blueberry but this tea is making me wish it was coconut! (Best dessert ever btw, 100 calories and 8g of sugar. They aren’t very big as you’d expect w/that info but it’s a perfect amount.) This isn’t one of my favorite cheesecake blends though, but I still love it.

Oh I’ve missed this tea. But no new teas anymore for right now, even if they were around!

YAY!! My tea order arrived today. I was seriously bummed because I had checked the mail earlier and there was nothing there. I was assuming it was due to the icy roads that canceled school today. However, a couple of hours later the flag on my mailbox that signals there is something inside was raised. I checked the mail again and my tea was there!!! Many thanks to my lovely mail delivery lady who braved the roads in order to deliver this tea.

Now, on to this tea. I, like many others, thought I had missed this tea completely but Frank decided to blend up some more and I grabbed a pouch. I love that this is a honeybush blend because I was anticipating the flavors to truly shine with that base. This tea is a really great and tasty blend! The many, many shreds of coconut in the mix really lend a nicely smooth flavor with the tangy cheesecake-like taste coming out as the tea cools and hanging around in the background.

I did add some milk to the cup, but I think I would prefer this tea better without that addition. I’ve really been noticing that I like more teas without additions lately and I’ll be sure to try that later on with this tea.

If only this weren’t sold out!!

Maybe if Frank has enough requests he’ll whip up another 2 pounds? I swear I read a comment joking about need he make more…Please please please?

Maybe he should add this one to the permanent collection at MySweetHoneybush.

@Jillian: my vote, YES! :)

Great review, mrawlins2. My review pales in comparison. But I was distracted by the lusciousness of the coconut…

@Jillian – My vote is Yes also!!

@KeenTeaThyme – Thanks, and I totally understand being distracted by this tea, it is great!

I was glad to support 52Teas effort at opening their tea bar. Sadly, a no go. But I got some teas out of the deal anyway. Somehow the sampler of 12 teas became the ‘Bestsellers’ sampler, which was disappointing as somehow I had already tried many of these teas. I was hoping they would be some really great blends that were a bit rarer than these. I have in no way tried all of the 52Teas blends, but however did I try most of these? Only four here are teas I haven’t tried before. Two I have in larger amounts. The others, I was up for sipping again anyway! (I can hardly say no to ANY 52Teas blend.) In all honesty, a good portion of these that I’ve tried were probably not the freshest. So the highlight of this sampler? FRESH REBLENDS!! I get to try the absolute freshest flavors!

First up! Brewed at boiled for three minutes exactly, this has an intoxicating suntan lotion fragrance! I certainly don’t remember this strength from the older blend I tried! The flavor is definitely stronger than I remember, definite coconut with equal parts cheesecake – creamy, milky, and a bit of a bite that makes cheesecake so yum. The honeybush leaves a lovely pinkish hue to the cup. (And I loved that teabags were included, that I will use exclusively for the rooibos/honeybush blends, though they are BIG teabags that could fit ANY leaf.) I’m uping the rating on this one from a 74… I can see its lingering powers now! Why is this so divine? The second steep at eight minutes wasn’t as flavor filled as this one though. I wouldn’t have minded if the Earl Grey Cheesecake would have been in the sampler over this one though.

I ordered this awhile ago, but just getting around to trying it now. I love these honeybush blends from 52teas.

This one is no exception, creamy, sweet, with lots of coconut. I only get a tiny bit of tangy cheesecake in the aftertaste, but I am thinking it might come out a little more with a longer steep, I will have to try that next time.

I gotta try this as a cold brew too! Now, if only it would warm up around here so I felt like drinking cold tea.
