Cucumber Mango Shou Mei

After how divine Butiki’s Doke Silver Needle was I was a little nervous this blend would be drastically out shined this morning/early afternoon – but I should have feared not because it’s holding its own next to the DSN.

It’s like a super refreshing, light cup of Spring Morning. It’s vegetal from the coconut but in a really crisp, mouth watering way – and then the “punch” of mango just makes everything pop. This is one of my favourite 52Teas blend and I’ll be so sad when I’m out; and that’s gonna be pretty soon, too…

Sipdown! Finished this one at work a couple of days ago, but never seemed to get around to logging it. It’s been a lovely tea for summer, and I’ll miss it, but I guess it’s time to start thinking about autumn/winter teas now. Hopefully there are some equally nice teas ahead!

The dry leaf of this tea smells amazing. Definitely a worthy addition to the Cucumber “collection” that 52Teas has. (I still think about the Cucumber Strawberry.)

A very refreshing, delicious, unique blend. Those are words I use often when describing 52Teas blends … and for good reason. No, I don’t love everything they create, but, most of the blends, if nothing else, I really appreciate the uniqueness of them because you aren’t going to find teas like them anywhere.

Sipdown! This is really nice. I don’t think I’ll restock, but I like the way the flavors blend together. The way the cucumber and melon go with the tea base tastes more natural than most flavored whites I’ve had, and the flavors themselves are ripe and fresh. It almost tastes more like juice or flavored water than tea, because there’s a definite juiciness especially to the melon flavor. The tea base is present enough to keep this from being all about the flavorings, though.

I wouldn’t have thought to combine cucumber and mango but boy does it work! This clever pairing is supported by a wonderful Shou Mei base that adds a strong but smooth profile to the blend. Both the cucumber and mango notes are definitely apparent but the mango is at the forefront with the cucumber lingering at the end to entwine all the layers. This tea is absolutely outstanding both warm and over ice – but I give the edge to warm brewed. All in all, if you are looking for a nice refreshing blend for the summer is this one tea you will want to check out!

From StarFevre! An entire pouch – thank you! (From Frank’s 52Teas days.) I’ve had this a few times and this will be a quick note, because though it is older than the hills this tea that should taste like cucumber and mango (and even has mango cubes!) now somehow tastes like LIME?!?! I’m not sure how that happened, as it is obviously stored properly in the original pouch. Mango and cucumber is leagues away on the flavor spectrum than lime. hmm. For a lime tea, it’s fine but certainly not as delicious as a 52teas blend that is intentionally lime. Nothing to blame but age here. But the description says this was inspired by salsa, so maybe the lime is the only flavor remaining.

Yum! I am not sure why I put off trying this for so long. I received a sample of this from LiberTEAS sample box back in January. I enjoyed a cup of this iced for dinner tonight. This was really tasty. I am not sure I can describe the flavor as mango, but there is a fruity quality with the cucumber that comes out. It is very nice. I will delicately be enjoying the rest of this sample iced!

It tastes really bright and fresh! It’s just… boom! Here’s your cucumber! And then as you’re thinking yeah, this is pretty good, it fades and you can taste the mango as the sip finishes.
Lovely.
