Tea of the Week for February 5, 2018!

While organizing the studio just before the holidays, I came across a little more fair-trade, single estate Zomba green tea – the last of my stock – and I determined that I had just enough to either do a reblend with it or create an all-new blend. Since I had already reblended two teas toward the end of last year, I decided that I should make a new blend. The natural fruity tones of the Zomba lends itself well to a fruit flavored tea so I decided that a coconut tea was the way to go!

After my first taste test, I decided that I needed a little bit of something to cut the coconut just a bit – so I added a bunch of freeze-dried raspberries to the blend. The raspberry isn’t as strong as the coconut – the coconut is clearly the star of this cuppa – but there’s just enough raspberry to add a pop of brightness to the cup and a slight tangy berry quality to the finish. Really nice – it’s kinda like a coconut tea that’s been kissed with raspberries – and what better way to celebrate Valentine’s day?

This is a sweet, creamy coconut-ty Zomba tea – with just a hint of sweet-tart raspberry!

ingredients: fair trade single estate green tea, organic coconut, organic raspberries & organic natural flavors

Thank you for sharing Sil! This was a nice coconut green tea and since I had basically a whole freeze-dried raspberry in my filter, the sip ends with a lovely raspberry top note. This is much smoother than I anticipated with no grassiness from the base or lotion from the coconut. Just sweet coconut flavoring atop a light green tea base, with just a bit of raspberry. It reminds me slightly of the retired tea from DAVIDs, Fantasy Island…and I miss Fantasy Island so this is a welcome addition to my cupboard.

So, remember that long long stretch that I was having massive wifi and connectivity issues and then my computer up and died? I was absent from Steepster during that time (except for my brief postings on my other account from public places).

Well, during all that time, I was still drinking tea. I stacked all my empty tea packets away so that I could post my sipdowns when I was back on Steepster. I’ve lost track of how many hundreds of sipdowns I have, but I will post my empty packets with very brief comments of what I recall.

Quite enjoyed this one. Raspberry coconut green. I liked the base quite a bit. Definitely would restock.

And it’s a sipdown!

happy days! a small amount of variety back in my cupboard with the arrival of my 52 teas. It won’t last long, but it DOES mean that i have new teas to drink this weekend :) This one is is very much a green coconut with hints of raspberry. Apparently i’ve gotten over my dislike of coconut in teas (as long as it’s not rancid) and found this one to be really nice, light and refreshing. I’m hoping there will be more raspberry flavour to this one in later cups if i can get a few more in to my cup. :) Still a lovely treat.
