Tea of the Week for October 26, 2020!

The Fourth Tea of our Trick or Treat Theme for October 2020!

My inspiration for this tea is the candy bar of peanut butter toffee coated in chocolate. Probably the most familiar of these candy bars is the Butterfinger. You may also be familiar with the 5th Avenue bar – in my opinion – the best candy bar like this is known as the Clark Bar (because actual chocolate & won’t need to chisel the sticky stuff off your teeth after you eat it).

This blend starts with Black Gunpowder tea & is blended with peanut butter essence (don’t worry, this is peanut free!) & toffee essence. Then I added cacao nibs, cacao shells & VEGAN chocolate chips.

This turned out super yummy! Tastes like someone liquified a Clark bar & added it to a cup of black tea! Gluten-free, allergen-free & VEGAN!

ingredients: black tea, vegan chocolate chips (unsweetened chocolate, cane sugar)

organic ingredients: cacao nibs, cacao shells, calendula petals & natural flavors

C is for… Clark!

I only have about a cup of this left, which suggests I may have enjoyed it in the past – but it fell a bit flat for me today. Yes, I can taste some chocolate – heaviest on the nib flavour I think – but it’s not overly strong, and I’m not getting much from the base either. I generally enjoy 52teas’ chocolate teas, so I’d probably chalk this up to age or user error at this point.

Had this one today and it’s quite delicious. I mostly get a sort of chocolatey, sweet, black tea vibe going on…there’s something else there too but i couldn’t pin point the flavour with any certainty. But it was a fantastic afternoon tea.

Sipdown!

I enjoyed this one, which is a surprise for a chocolate tea! This has a nice milk chocolaty flavor with a bit of creaminess to it. There’s also a peanutty flavor which makes perfect sense given the inspiration. I feel like I’m getting a touch of butteriness in this final cup as well, which brings it a bit closer to the Butterfinger sort of flavor it’s inspired by.

My only gripe would be it feels a bit thin, but that’s pretty much always an issue for me with chocolate-flavored teas. I will say, I love the base here, so I hope to see more 52teas blends with it in the future! :)

Chocolate teas are so hit or miss, and I appreciate that 52Teas chocolate blends never taste like synthetic chocolate. I love the candy bar inspiration here, and there is a bit of a nuttiness that works well with the chocolate.

Silent Kettle

You’re so right about chocolate teas being a hit or a miss! I will have to check this one out! :)
