TTB Review #49: I typically love coconut in all things, but I’m starting to think I’m not a fan of it in my tea. This one was actually more palatable than some others I’ve had, but something about it just doesn’t work for me. There’s nothing particularly unpleasant about this tea, I just feel…bleh about it.

AJRimmer Advent Day 14

I love coconut and I love white tea, so I was excited to see this one in the calendar yesterday! Unfortunately, the coconut flavor just wasn’t present in this cup. I get chocolate and the white tea base and maybe a tiny bit of coconut, but I doubt I’d be picking up on it if I didn’t know it was supposed to be here. It was a fairly good cup of tea, but just not what I was hoping for.

The coconut here is pretty pleasant, even though I’m not a huge coconut fan. I don’t really like white tea either, but it complements the coconut well. This one ends up pretty simple to me – just the tea base and coconut – but the flavor is quite high quality. I didn’t really notice the hojicha, but I suppose I could see it in retrospect.

(52teas (Anne) 2022: 271)

CrowKettle is right, this blend has a lot going on. Coconut, cacao, two base teas. It’s decadent, desserty, and creamy. Definitely chocolatey, but the coconut isn’t overly apparent (just creamy). It reminds me a bit of a chocolate mousse cake? I didn’t really pick up on too much hojicha roastiness, but I also think that my cup may have been heavier on the white tea, so I’ll try to get it more balanced next time. Overall, I like it, but I’m not sure if I love it.

Janaury 2022 Blend (I think.. either that or December)

This was one of the many 52Teas’ pouches I polished off over the last few days. There is a lot happening in this blend but the dominant features are definitely the coconut and hojicha (with wonderful cocoa accents, both added and naturally found in the tea). It comes across as a hot chocolate taste-alike. Didn’t really pick up on the baimudan, but that’s fine.

I love hojicha more in theory than in practice. Still, after finishing this tea off, I desperately crave a hojicha soft serve – with coconut and chocolate additions. My hojicha cravings are a paradox.
