Dry leaf – smell cider, clove and vanilla
Wet leaf – smells very cidery
Taste – very creamy mouthfeel, but I don’t like the finish
2nd steep – very potpourri taste. I don’t get cider anymore. Creamy.

I don’t know that I like this tea. I still have some left so I will try again to see if I like it any better. Maybe I overleafed?

I can see why most really like this one. The flavouring is subtle but it works so well with the base. I taste creamy vanilla custard mostly. I can sooner smell the apple, especially once this cools a bit, more so than taste it. I don’t get any spices.

For the record, I’ve never actually tried panna cotta before, much less a spicier version, but regardless of the name, it’s a cozy, vanilla custard oolong to me. Whiny me would like a little more of that vanilla custard here, but overall, it’s a pleasant blend to sip on.

This is super good. Light but still sweet with creamy vanilla and some tart cidery appleness. Odd, but adding cream does not bring out the vanilla, but rather the floral notes in the oolong and that doesn’t mix well. I normally wouldn’t add cream to oolong but… I had some and it smelled like it might go well.

And breaking in the Calamityware Things Could Be Worse mug that just arrived today! Woot, woot!

That mug is awesome.

How fun is that mug!

Oh dear. Is all of that your teaware? I have serious teaware envy right now.

Nicole

I generally don’t buy mugs for teaware, but that one had to be done. :) I have a serious lust for his Calamityware china plates but they are way too cost prohibitive.

I know, right? I wish there were better reviews of this one because flavored green oolongs are not that common and not always successful. For me, it actually held up better with a gram per two ounce or less ratio. And it yielded very strong rebrews. I hope Lauren releases a similar tea soon because I would want to get something like this paired with the Cherry Wassail before it runs out.

This is a lovely one. The apple is nice and strong. The floral notes complement the apple rather than distract from it, and the creamy custard flavor really ties everything together. A very good quality oolong base too. I got two steeps out of this and they were both strong, could probably manage a third.

I saw someone on here keeping track of their sipdowns for the year. I really like this idea. I have tried to keep track of my tea drinking in an excel sheet, but then I get focused on working out or work, or meal planning and then tea stats fall to the waist side. Something I do fairly regularly though is notes on Steepster and keeping my cupboard up to date. So logging sipdowns on here should be easy. Starting 2 weeks early for 2016…..

Sipdown 1 of 2015 – small sample. Purchased 11/2015 – Finished 12/2015.

This tea is delicious and to be honest if the Mad Hatter puts out some awesome sounding blends here soon I may have to grab a 1/2 ounce of this tea. It is light, creamy and vanillay while offering a slight hint of something tart. Apple maybe? Either way I am taken to that peaceful place with this tea and really enjoy it. I don’t normally enjoy flavored oolongs so this is saying a lot for this one. In LOVE with this one.
