Sample Sipdown! (17)

Another from my A Quarter to Tea sample order! I’ve never heard of Lemonsweet before, but after a bit of cursory Googling, I think it might be a Game of Thrones reference? (shrugs)

I like this one. The citrus flavor almost verges on floor cleaner, but it’s not quite there thankfully. I mostly taste the lemon and lemongrass, and there’s a nice sweetness to it that gives a suggestion of strawberry. It reminds me a bit of a milder lemon drop candy flavor. I don’t taste much rosemary, for which I am thankful as it’s not a favorite herb of mine. It does contribute a pleasant slight herbaceous note that verges on pine.

The base tea here has a lot of flavor. It has a vegetal, brothy nature with a hint of bitterness. I would call it cross between a Chinese gunpowder green and a Japanese sencha. It does meld well with the added citrus flavors.

I likely won’t reorder this, as it fits a similar niche to my beloved Yuzu from Lupicia. But it is a tasty and satisfying citrus green tea!

Sipdown! 8/365

This is yummy! I’m drinking it cooled, and it’s really nice – it would definitely be a great iced tea, as is recommended. I’m getting a lovely citrus flavour (lemongrass + other citrus), and it fits nicely on the slightly smoky green tea base. Can’t say I’m getting strawberry though. I didn’t realize this was chun mee, which I have liked previously in other blends (it’s the base in Sun + Cloud Mist (52teas), which was a delicious creamy lemon tea). This tea isn’t creamy, but I don’t think that would go here. Just light and refreshing.

Sipdown (337)

This is much better hot than it is cooled but still not my favorite. It tastes less like cleaner than it did the last cup I had but still just lemon with a hint of rosemary at the end of each sip. I wanted some sweeter strawberry notes to create a nice contrast to the more herbal flavors but they were fleeting and not very distinctive.
