What a great, all around daily drinker! Today was tea party day, and you may remember that I feel that my guest has done all the experimenting she really wants to do, she has determined that she loves black tea best, and I determined that I will start serving at least two black teas at tea party instead of wide assortments. The third tea will be either a flavored black or a green or oolong tea that she has had and loved.

I usually start out with an unflavored black tea to complement and cut the sweetness of our dessert. Today we had a couple of Hoosier pies that my daughter made, also called Sugar Cream Pie. It was really good, and the tea was a great pairing for it.

This tea does NOT taste like a decaf. It has so much flavor and heft, but is smooth and nice even without milk or sugar. Classic orange pekoe flavor!

On a side note, it is funny that I have a teapot purchase decision to make, thought about asking for advice here, imagined what advice I thought you would give (and what I would give to others in my shoes) and decided I knew what you would say and didn’t ask after all. So, thanks for your help, guys! I think I know what to do now! :)

WWSD? :)

Lived in Indiana my whole life. I had never heard of Hoosier pie and I’m kind of a pie aficionado OK addict. Have had many a nutmeg dust sugar cream pie though. Interesting. Learned something new.

Wonder if that’s like what we call chess pie around here.

Making note of a decaf with HEFT.

Glad to be of service ;)

It looks like A Southern Season may have closed its brick-and-mortar store, and I can’t tell if they still sell online. (Ashmanra, do you know?) Which is too bad, because I just rediscovered a buried sample of this really nice decaf OP yesterday. I had consumed so much hot liquid due to the ear/throat gunk, I sloshed when I walked and you could see the caffeine buzz coming out of my eyeballs.

Had enough in the packet for one last pot. While there will never be a decaf tea ever that is strong enough to suit me, this one had a little bit of personality. A little soapy (in a good way; I think that’s just a standard decaf personality issue), but somewhat dark and sweet, especially after I let it stew over a tea candle for a couple of hours.

At any rate, it made me feel better and I think I’m finally on the mend. Could be the antibiotics, could be the tea, but I think the real medicine may have been an afternoon in the La-Z-Boy watching episodes of Downton Abbey with Tazo snoozing on my lap.

I slosh all the time with no such excuse. I hope you feel better soon!

And I’m also currently rewatching Downton Abbey! What a perfect show for tea.

Season three. The wedding episode with Maggie Smith and Shirley Maclaine—I chortled all the way through it.

White Antlers

Downton Abbey and The Great British Bake Off are both good medicine.

I haven’t seen Downton Abbey yet, but I am a Bake Off fiend.

YASSSS Bake Off!

I am not sure if they sell online at all, but OH HOW I MISS THEM! It was so hard to lose them, like a neighbor you really, really loved.

This was a great tea. The only thing really close to it for me has been Harney’s Decaffeinated. The plain one, and it just says Decaf on the tin.

gmathis

Hmm. I’ve never looked. Is Harney’s decaf one that they have mass marketed?

ashmanra

I have only bought it from the website in a tin loose leaf. I am not sure if it is available any other way.
