From Adagio Custom Blends, Bran Mydwynter

“Sweet and spiced, rich and strong. Honeybush Pumpkin Chai and Vanilla Rooibos Chai meld seamlessly into a powerhouse of flavour, and Decaf Vanilla black tea smooths out the edges. Made with twice the usual amount of tea, served sweetened and with (steamed) milk, it becomes something cozy and familiar, a friendly cup of comfort. Whether in its caffeinated or its decaf version, this is one latte that will kindle tremendous warmth against the dark half of the year. [decaffeinated version]
No caffeine | Steep at 212° for 6 mins”

Here I am, trying to drink down one more tea from last fall so I can order it fresh later in the year! As usual, I like the little rehydrated apple pieces which float on top of these custom blends, tho the ones in this tea didn’t absorb any of the “flavours” added to the component blends.
I would say the cinnamon and ginger are the forward flavors here. Not being into flower teas, I don’t know what marigold and safflower petals taste like on their own. Whatever subtle properties they may have aside from their visual aspect (ooh look! petals in the mix!), those properties are lost to the overall spiciness of this blend.
I added sugar, which brought out some more of the spice. Then I added some nonfat milk—voila! THAT is why Bran Mydwynter (the inventor of this blend) dubbed it a Latte’.
This tea (and no doubt its caffeinated version) is truly meant to be enjoyed with some kind of milk in it. The milk smooths out the angular push-to-the-front of the spices. With the milk it’s a much nicer beverage. I do recommend it—and recommend you add the milk, make it a real latte’! I do like the fact it’s decaf, so I can have it at night.
